highbury vaults - Bristol
164 St Michael's Hill, Bristol BS2 8DE

This pub is a great pub, and very popular with the young crowd, especially students. The prices are reasonable. The outside area is gorgeous, and a real highlight. This is a definite must if you are in the area.
The Cadbury House - Bristol
68 Richmond Road, Bristol BS6 5EW
31-12-2007
This is a gret pub, in the uber cool suburb of Montpellier. It has a big outside area, and is big inside too, and is mainly populated by under 30s. The drink prices are reasonable, and the staff friendly. If you're looking for somwhere friendly to chill out for the evening with your freinds this is a great place to go.
cafe gusto - Bristol

This is a great alternative coffee house. It is a local chain and there are cafes next to the Clifton Down shopping centre, opposite the Hippodrome, and near the University. It is a local chain, and does amazing drinks and sandwiches (not to mention the cake). I'd recommend the vanilla smoothie. It has the usual prices for coffee houses, but has a great range, and usually really nice staff. Great to support a local too!
Cosie's Wine Bar - Bristol
34 Portland Square, Bristol BS2 8RG
31-12-2007
This is one of those hidden gems that not many people talk about, but all the kool kids know. Tucked away in one of St Pauls majestic squares, cosies is one of its kind! Playing a huge host of great music, from hip-hop to reggae and dub step to d'n'b you are guaranteed a great night. Cheap bar prices, and a really cute outside area top it off. It is small (hence the name?) but has a great vibe, and everybody is dancing by the end!
Hotel Du Vin - Bristol
The Sugar House Narrow Lewins Mead, The Sugar House Narrow Lewins Mead, Bristol BS1 2NU

If posh expensive frech restaurants are your thing look no further than this place, The food is exquisite, and you get real french people helping you choose your wine! The steak is great, and the layout of it amzing. I'd also highly recommend the Sticky toffee pudding. The atmoshpere is cosy and it is a really beautiful building. The service is pretty attentive, as you'd expect in a restaurant like that.
Bristol Zoo Gardens - Clifton
Guthrie Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 3HA
31-12-2007
I try to go to the zoo in every place I travel to, but Bristol zoo has a big place in my heart. Not the biggest of the zoos I have been to but it is top-notch on education and making the most of what it has got. Do not go if you hate children however, because there seems to be at least 10 for every adult there. It is very frantic. It has a great range of animals and is a great day out, whatever your age.
Grecian Kebab House - Bristol
2 Cromwell Road, Bristol BS6 5AA
31-12-2007
My boyfreind is a firm fan of the Grecian. You won't find him going anywhere else for his pizza. They are good value, and you get a free garlic bread or chips with them so you can see why. They have an extensive range, and are usually pretty quick. They aren't the best pizzas in the world, don't tell the BF, but I do enjoy them!
one30 bar & restaurant - Bristol
130 Cheltenham Road, Bristol BS6 5RW

This place has a really nice atmosphere and does great food. There’s an outside area which is great for the smokers amongst us. The food is really tasty but don’t plan on having a cheap night out at this place because both the food and drinks are pretty expensive. The staff are friendly but the service is quite slow. Definitely have a mixed tapas to get a broad range of flavours. Worth the money!
rocco's - Bristol
4a The Promenade, Gloucester Road, Bristol BS7 8AL
31-12-2007
One of Bristol's best restaurants, and a hidden gem of Bristol. In an area overflowing with expensive, pretencious restaurants Rocco's is a breath of fresh air. Run by a neopolitan couple, the food is probably the best Italian in Bristol. A very small restaurant which may not look like much from the outside, but the service and the food is always top notch. The servings are always big, and the food is usually very quick, it is great value for money. The menu is extensive: i'd reccomend Angelotti Rocco if you feel like pasta and the Pizza Gloria. If you're a fan of Italian this is the place to go in Bristol
library - Bristol
cheltenham road, Bristol BS6 5RE
31-12-2007
As my local library I go here reasonably frequently. It isn't huge but you can order books from a whole load of other libraries, so this in part makes up for it. The staff are laways friendly, and there is a good non-fiction section. There are computers there, and books for sale very cheaply. The staff are really nice and helpful, and have come to my rescue on more than one occasion. A really great facility to have just down the road, I hope everyone goes there from the area. You need a couple of pieces of ID to join.
