Strada - Portsmouth

City Quay, Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth PO1 3TW

Very tasty Italian restaurant in gunwharf quays. The setting inside is very nice and in summer there are loads of tables outside. There is a very nice food and wine menu. There is a good range of meat dishes, pizzas (way too big for one person!) and pastas. They have a rigatoni dish which is excellent! They also bring out chilled water for you! service is good and friendly. Families and children are welcomed which nice for a good classy restaurant. The deserts are absolutely divine! Prices are not unreasonable and it makes a an enjoyable meal out!

The Paper Mill Shop - Portsmouth

This is a statinary/craft store in gunwharf quays - my girlfriend loves this place for making cards, decorations etc. It is quite a small shop but they cram a lot of stock in and it still looks very organised. You can buy a massive range of paper and buy in boxes which makes it reasonably good value. There are all sorts of other craft bits for embossing, beads and decorations to put on cards and invitations - it apears to be a girls delight looking at the crowds that wander round the shop. I am still not convinced that home made cards work out cheaper but there is the enjoyment making them!

This is a small store in gunwharf quays. I think dvd/cd stores are probably quite out-dated now. There was a much larger store in the centre of town which has recently closed - am asumming this doesn’t bode well. It might mean prices are dropped?? There is a reasonable range of stock including both new releases and older classics. They can order bits in for you. I just think unfortunately you can get better deals online and save some money. There are some things you prefer to browse for but unless you are desperate to get a cd or dvd right them when you’re shopping, I would order online.

Brittany Ferries - Portsmouth

Wharf Road, Portsmouth PO2 8RU

Curtosy of the news, I had a super cheap day return from portsmouth to cherbourg and found it easier than a trip to London. The service was really smooth and friendly. I was amazed at the reasonable prices - cheaper than travelling up north! There was food and drink on the boat and a good gift shop. They even had movies playing in french and english to entertain. The journey was swift and so easy it made me wonder why I hadn;t done it before. Services close for a period over winter which is a shame but you can go from other ports. Avoid parking around the ferry as it’ll cost you around £12 for the 12 hour period. Park further away and walk to the ferry!

Mr Clutch - Portsmouth

Knowing few garages around in Portsmouth and knowing how easy it is to get ripped off, I randomly chose Mr Clutch and I’m so glad i did. They performed an MOT and charged me no extras. They highlighted all the problems and was amazed that the car passed- they were very honest with their comments and gave me the best possible value. I’m impressed with them and would happily return back for further works. It is useful to find somewhere that will give you good value for something that you know little about

Crew - Portsmouth

BOth me and my girlfriend love this salon. It is very trendy and young and the staff always are friendly and entertain you. The quality of proudcts used and the competence of the staff is high. Prices are equally high but perhaps for once you get what you pay for. A trip here is made into an experience. You don;t feel as if you are rushed in and out and real care is taken once your hair has been cut to style you to suit you and not just what you have asked for (incase it doesn;t really suit you). There’s a great product range to pruchase too.

I have come here on several occassions on a friday or saturday night for the comedy club and have always really enjoyed myself. Tickets prices are reasonable and you can wangle discounts if you go in big groups. There have always been a couple of very funny acts out of the night and a couple of not so funny ones. Still the evening is enjoyable even though there is a lot of pressure to keep quiet durin g the performances. I leave once the comedy turns into a night club as it gets really busy and a bit rowdy - not my kind of place. Food is nothing to write home about - fried bits and drinks are reasonably expensive but the comedy is worth it!

Nando's - Portsmouth

Interesting portuguese chicken restaurant. Great if you are in the mood for chicken or chicken or chicken. They do do steak but last time I wasn;t very impressed with the quality. You can chosse the spicyness of your chicken and several side dishes to choose from. I think the restaurant is laid out really nicely and has a romantic, dim lit feel but the food disappointed me. It is really a fast food joint trying to convert to a restaurant but it didnt do either for me. Some people rave about this place and maybe if you want a quick sit down meal, this is the place for you but not my kind of place.

pizza express - Portsmouth

gunwharf quays, Portsmouth PO1 1EQ

Great restaurant from the pizza chain. It delivers the same quality food every time i visit. The pizza are the nicest out of all the pizza shops. They are thin based and you can choose from an exotic range of toppings. they are freshly baked are served steaming hot. There are other dishes if you are not in the mood for pizza such as superb pasta and salads. The location is brilliant, set on the waterfront. There are tables out in summer so that you can sit in the sun and look over the water. Great setting great food. reasonable prices.

The American Bar (abarbistro) - Portsmouth

58 White Hart Road, Portsmouth PO1 2JA

Great restaurant in a beautiful old part of portsmouth. Just outsiedgunwharf quays, it site on the cobbled street not far from the fish markets. The bar is nice but the crowd is quite particular and can come across as a bit sniffy. The restaurarnt is delightful. The menu is lovely and gives a nice range of gormet food. The portions are good and prices are reasonable. You will find it trickly choosing only one dish for yourself however! Nicely laid out restaurant and a great place to come for a treat!
