Wonderful helpful staff although the manager seemed to be a bit of a dragon, interrupting staff trying to serve the queue efficiently

Castlebrook Inn - Somerton

Very welcoming owners. Lovely log fire. Excellent £5 menu which included my omelette and chips. Possibly only lunchtimes. My husband had a very nice steak ( not £5 menu) Little village shop included in the pub. Free parking. Dogs welcome in the bar area but not the dining area.Think owners fairly new. I wish them well

Excellent food, pleasant staff, nice surroundings. Prices top end but worth it. Odd to be in your Sunday best when some people are in their dressing gowns having taken advantage of the spa facilities

Had lunch here on a Sunday in January. We arrived at 13.45 which was 15mins before they stopped serving food but they accommodated us. They had an extensive menus from sandwiches to roasts. They served local fish too. I had a nicely cooked omelette. There was a fire in the bar, albeit a gas one. Sauces came in sachets but it was just what we wanted after our walk to Branscombe along the cliff path.

Ye Olde Two Brewers - Shaftesbury

This pub accommodated 23 of us for a late Sunday lunch after we contacted them in advance. They normally stopped serving food at 3 but the chef arranged to stay on to serve us at 3. Lunch was £9.50 which was a little expensive. Nice gravy served separately but they had run out of apple sauce! (There is a supermarket not far away) The vegetables were a bit sparse too. It had nice views and a good room at the back which seated us all very well.
The person in charge did get a bit het up when it came to serving us all.

£1.50 to walk the length of the pier. Money well spent to help preserve this Victorian landmark. Nice little gallery upstairs in the toll house and a pleasant souvenir shop
