Curzon Soho - Soho

Shaftesbury Avenue, Soho, London W1D 5AY

Alright, yes, it's expensive, but what do you expect from a Curzon? They have fantastic Q&A events here from time to time that are brilliant for Superfans. I went with my boyfriend to see Senna with a discussion after the screening with the film's director. Such a great draw for filmgoers. It really sets them apart from their competitors.

Phoenix Palace - Marylebone

Decent dim sum, but a tad expensive. Really enjoyed the steamed wasabi dumplings and the crispy beef. Also, it's a bit kitsch, but I loved the 'celebrities who've eaten here' photo collage at the entrance. Very convenient to Baker Street tube

phoenixpalace Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your comments and feel very proud that the team at the Phoenix Palace were able to meet you expectations and that you loved the Restaurant.
We look forward to welcoming you back at the Phoenix Palace.

Met Sarah, a fellow Qyper, here a few weeks ago! It's a little small, but very friendly, and the coffees are delicious. I had a hard time abstaining from the delicious-looking pastries. The Portuguese Tarts, in particular, brought back memories of Lisbon. Will definitely be back!

Hostal Residencia Australia - Eixample

Ronda Universitat 11, 08007 Barcelona

Such a fantastic place to stay in Barcelona! It's cheap, clean and has an amazing location. It does have a shared bathroom, but each room also has a blacony - so, you know, trade offs :)

I've stayed here twice: once in 2006 when I was backpacking, and once in 2010 when I was just doing a quick jaunt in Barcelona. Both times, I felt at home. The owner, Thomas, is lovely.

sarahdrinkwater I wish I'd stayed in Eixample last time, we were right in the Barri Gothic and the noise was awful!

Patara - Soho

I'm giving 3 stars because while the food was excellent (my duck with roasted pineapple: to die for), service-wise the rating would be 1.5 stars would be pushing it.

Twice, they brought the wrong food to the table. The first time it was corrected (but took forever), and the second time, they just never brought the replacement dish. They were busy, but not overly so, for 9:30 on a Friday night. Everything was slow, and for two people it took us well over 2 hours to get out. Not impressed at all.

I'd still go back for the food, just wouldn't expect much from the staff.

One of the most inventive restaurants in London today. It's not cheap by any standard, but it's worth all the fanfare (and the Michelin star).

Hard to comment on the type of food since the tasting menu changes every day, but I can tell you that everything was cooked perfectly, and even if you don't like one of your courses, you have to give it up to the kitchen for executing the dish properly.

The bar across from the restaurant is beautiful too

Kateh Restaurant - Little Venice

5 Warwick Place, London W9 2PX

Went here last night, and absolutely loved it. It's quite new, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it is near my house, so I wanted to give it a try.

From beginning to end, everything was the delicious. The Persian cuisine is very meat-heavy, so veggies may not find much to choose from. My meatball starter with a prune-filled centre was lovely, the lamb from my main was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the dessert of cookies with cinnamon ice cream was to die for.

The place is only a 10 minute walk from Paddington, so even if you don't live in Maida Vale, it's worth the trip.

Apollo Cinema - St. James's

19 Regent Street, London SW1Y 4LR

I'm continually blown away by this place. Not only are the seats incredibly comfortable, the loos posh, and the snacks abundant, it's just far off enough Leicster Square not to get hoardes of tourists. Walking in, you know that you'll never go to the Trocodero again. Perfect for date night or an afternoon out with the family.

Oh, and by the way, I went here last night for the Sony 4k screening of Toy Story 3, which I helped organise with TikiChris.

Lucky Voice - Islington

What a fantastic night out!

This is the poshest of karaoke clubs out there - no dingy dark rooms here. Lucky Voice has thought of everything you need for a brilliant time - lights, props, food, drinks and the most hi-tech interactive karaoke computer system I've ever seen.

Went here courtesy of the new Windows phone, I should mention. What a fun evening!

New York Pizza Depot - Detroit

Super quick, super tasty pizza place right in the middle of downtown. The Ziti (pizza with penne pasta on top) is a particular favourite carb-overload of mine.

It's dangerous how late they're open till though - when 2am comes around, and you stumble out of Ashley's around the corner - NYPD always sounds like a good idea
