Ruby Lo - Marylebone
23 Orchard Street, orchard street, London W1H 6HL
23-04-2008
Ruby-Lo is a great venue - staff are friendly, bouncers pleasant but most of all its got a fantastic atmosphere! The breakdance nights are sound and the dancers great to watch! Nice seating areas and good oooold skool hip hop!But be aware drinks cost a bomb and it can get very hot as its underground!
Elysium Lounge - Soho
9 Glasshouse Street, London W1B 5RF
23-04-2008
A group of friends and I have been to the club on a few occasions and have always had a good night! although the venue can get quite cramped! Elysium has lovely decor, drinks are pricey however most clubs/ bars in central london are quite expensive so it shouldn’t really come as a suprise. Its not the type of club that you can try and blag your way into, if your not on the list your not coming in! Maybe not the the type of place to go every week but nice to sample for a birthday or special occasion.
The Kingly Club - Soho
4 Kingly Court, London W1B 5PQ
23-04-2008
I went to the Kingly Club and was asked if we were members but were let in anyway. I thought it was a lovely place for quiet after dinner drinks. I loved the white leather and we were lucky enough to go on a night when it wasn;t too busy so we were able to feel like VIP’s in a white leather booth. I found the service to be excellent and very friendly and I would definitely visit again!
LAB Bar - Soho
12 Old Compton Street, soho, London W1D 4TQ
23-04-2008
Out for a meal on my birthday and asked for the best place to get some cocktails. We were suitabley directed to the Lab. Very friendly staff and best Mojito I have ever tasted. Unfortunatley we had to leave just as the night seemed to be picking up (on a Tuesday and it had the feeling of the weekend). I’ll defo be going back to work my way through the extensive cocktail menu and stay till the fat lady sings.
Detroits - Covent Garden
35 Earlham Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9LD
23-04-2008
Was always tempted to have a drink in Detroit but never sorted one out til this month. Decided to meet girlfriend there for cocktails and we were both taken back by the cosy, intimate surroundings and the chilled tunes. Make no mistake, the drinks are not cheap but if you really want to make a classy impression come here for a great evening
Baltic Restaurant - Southwark
74 Blackfriars Road, Southwark, London SE1 8HA
23-04-2008
Went last saturday after visiting The Anchor and Hope on the cut. We had a brilliant time as the bar was empty except us and we pretty much had our own bar tender for the afternoon. He was very entertaining telling us all about the different sorts of spirits.
We had 4 rounds and a large platter of Blinis with smoked salmon, caviar, sour cream and onions and the whole bill came to under £60 which is very good for London I thought.
Kettners - Soho
29 Romilly Street, London W1D 5AJ
23-04-2008
Kettner’s is great, really unique but I’m surprised no-one’s mentioned the Champagne bar as thats a major reason for going there. They have an enormous range (at a price though!) and the rose champagne the people sitting next to us were drinking looked - and they said was - fantastic. Yes, the Pizza Express is nice but the bar is cosy and friendly and the perfect place to meet friends and celebrate. Different to anywhere else I know in Soho it just feels really special.
The Four Sisters, 25 Canonbury Lane - Islington
25 Canonbury Lane, Islington, London N1 2AS
23-04-2008
Very small i.e. intimate cocktail bar, filled with people who all seem to know one another. However, you’re never made to feel unwelcome by the friendly and hospitable staff, and the cocktails are the best in the area.
Due to it’s small size, best to visit for one cocktail before moving on.
It’s refreshing to see that places like this can exist in the monotony that is Islington.
Mezzo - Soho
100 Wardour Street, London W1F 0TN
23-04-2008
Loved it! Upstairs spacy and the long bar let’s all who wants to hang out for a quick drink do that, while others may sit by the scattered tables. Music at just the right loodness, not obtrusive. The lights could’ve been dimmed just a bit for the late night drinkers…. Great coctails! Pricey, but worth it. Nice atmosphere over the weekend; during the week rather quiet for such a big place, but service is great!
The Edge - Soho
11 Soho Square, Soho, London W1D 3QF
23-04-2008
A great place to go for the hip and trendy. However, be warned that it does get extremely packed in the evenings with standing room only! There are limited seating space on the upper floors, so get there early to be guaranteed a seat. A good mix of people, although straight couples ocassionally wonder in and make an exhibtion of themselves. Usually a good service, although as with most popular London bars, it’s always heaving at the bar.
