The Funky Buddha is quite a small intimate club in comparison to its rivals and is therefore nearly always packed out. As there is only one bar there can sometime be long waits for drinks, however as you are so close to the dancefloor you don’t really mind this. Overall the music is reliably good and they have disco classics nights aswell as RnB nights. If you have a large group its advisable to get in early to avoid waiting or not getting in at all!

I have had mixed experiences at this nightclub, sometime the doorstaff are friendly and the music funky and soulful. On other times you may find the door staff more aggresive and the music can get very heavy and serious. The do have monthly Hed Kandi nights which are very popular. The club also has a pre-club bar next door which then later becomes part of the club itself through internal doors making three rooms in total.

The Tru nightclub has a variety of different music playing to suit different tastes. The front bar generally plays more cheesy old-skool style dance music which attracts many a hen and stag night! The main dancefloor plays more heavy house and techno music for the truly hardcore clubbers. There are many bars around the enormous venue so there is not usually a long wait for drinks.

This is a very studenty bar which often plays host to live music. The bar itself is quite run down with a balcony overlooking the main floor, however drinks are cheap and there’s usually a buzz about the place due to the amount of young people usually hanging out there.

The Opposition (so called as it directly competes against the popular Donatellos over the road). As such there is a strong emphasis on providing excellent customer service and the staff are very friendly. The food is reasonable given the low price and wines are also good. If you like Donatellos this makes a good alternative for a change. Don’t be put off by the leafleters outside!

Heist is a dark but classy establishment, with candle effect lighting round the walls and a black facade outside. The bar serves excellent coacktails adn attracts a classy crowd. It gets very busy at weekends resulting an a lively party atmosphere. The bar and door staff are generally friendly, although can be slow to serve at times.

Buddies is Brighton’s orignial 24 hour cafe/restaurant catering to tourists, locals and clubbers throughout the day and night. The food is average but I generally go there after coming out of nightclubs so it doesn’t really matter. There is a large range of foods from full english breakfasts through the night to nice steaks during the day.

The Alfresco terrace in summer treats you to amazing views across the sea, especially when the sun is setting. The food is very tasty and the servers freindly and efficient. On the ground floor there is a bar which spreads out onto the beach and so makes a greta place to go with friends.

Pinocchios is part of the local Donatello’s group and follows a similar format of simple, cheap, tasty dishes. There are good set menus available where you can get a selected starter, any pizza/pasta dish and desert for less than £10. This makes it excellent value and the food is always very nice. The restaurant is always busy, and is particularly popular with theatre goers.

Pizza Express offers very tasty, freshly cooked food combines with a friendly fast service. The food is cooked in open plan kitchens within the restaurant so you can see your food being prepared, so you know its fresh. They also do salads, however they tend to over complicate these with sauces and spices, so I tend to avoid them here.
