I cant believe people on here are saying that this is a good viet cafe WTF! these people have obvously never had proper asian food in their lives. this place is one of the worst asian cafes i ever been to and is the prime reason why people can be put off by asian food as it is sloppy, covered in sauce to the point that you dont even know what you are eating. Asian food is inexpensive and not hard to do so saying that 'oh but it is cheap' is a cop out. I consider places like this a complete rip off. To start the menu is ridiculously long giving a hint at what is to come as no cafe let alone restaurant would even be able to have a good turnaround on this menu - its massive! I ordered deep fried butterfly prawns which weren't deep fried but covered in breadcrumbs and zapped in a microwave, they were dry, no taste and prawn did you say? i could hardly taste any they might as well be called just hard breadcrumbs. i refused to pay for these. next up spare ribs yet again dry over cooked covered in sauce. for main decided to order something simple as the menu was just so big i couldnt decide so ordered a standard beef stir fry- not difficult but was overcooked, sloppy, tasteless, rubbery beef.didnt eat this just the noodles. my gf had sweet n sour pork needless to say that was rubbish covered in sauce couldnt taste any pork only half good thing about it was the rice. crap crap crap!! these places should be shut down in my opinion .i would have rathered macdonalds , would be at least 10 times better and thats saying something! these places are run by asians as well they know they're ripping you off, at least if they werent asian you could say well maybe they dont know how to cook asian food.no! we left the place leaving pretty much all the food on the plates, nearly wasnt going to pay for the whole meal but really didnt want to cause to much hassle and kick off as we were going out for the night at the jazz cafe and were running late. by the way the prawns were better at the jazz cafe got doulbe the amount and were pretty much the same price.oh and they were actually prawns not bread. you want good asian food try new culture revolution(stir frys pretty much same price, double the portions, very good meat, no msg, fresh veg etc), theres also some great ones on oldstreet/kingsland. what i have learnt from this is never go to an asian restaurant on the spur of the moment because if you know and like your good food most prob you will be let down. i never used to like asian food because of places like this until i had the experience of actually eating proper asian quisine.
