Good coffee, which is a must considering this is predominantly a coffee shop. When we went, the woman at the counter was very chirpy and helpful, though as the person serving the drinks was a second member of staff, there are often breakdowns in communication. Annoying if you're in a hurry, as we were... A hurry to drink our coffees. Overall, ok, but as ever, quite pricey... As one of our party pointed out: "Costa? Costa lot".

I wouldn't call this place a sports centre unless drinking is a sport (which of course it is). 'Locals only' is the impression I got in there. Beer and darts, maybe pool and the occasional event in the hall- those are worth a shot, but on an average weekday night, perhaps not.

High quality and often used for conferences and weddings. My girlfriend worked in the restaurant and the dishes were always fresh and often gourmet. Expensive but with a nice fitness centre and good quality suites.

Although it's a chain store, this place has quite a local feel about it. Not as commercialised as boots but not so familiar that you can have a chat with the pharmacist. The range is less varied but it's a good alternative if there's not a boots nearby.

I don't imagine this place will get half as much business once asda opens round the corner in a few months time. Unsurprising really as these days, people aren't so interested in the magazines and fizzy drinks they seem to specialise in. People will always need post offices but we don't need the rest of the rubbish they sell.

For such a distinguished author, such a very humble background. Eastwood is awash with small reminders of it's mining background, but you really have to dig below the peacocks clothes store and co op on the local high street to discover its history. The museum itself is very good considering it is so hidden away and that it's been there for so long. Overall a good educational experience. A diamond in the rough.

Popularised by the local radio jingle in the early 90s, Ilkeston co op travel will indeed get you there... If 'there' is an overpriced package holiday deal to an already commercialised tourist-driven seaside resort like the costa del sol. It was fine back then, but if you're willing to do it yourself you can get a better mix n match holiday online these days. Travel agencies just don't cut it anymore I'm afraid.

This pub was originally named after it was hit by a bomb in the second world war... Or so some would have you believe. I am in no doubt that the original main building is a century old but the conservatory area must have been added in the late 80s. The view out across the rolling hills is unmatched, but it's just a shame that the food is very mediocre pub grub and the tables slightly sticky in that pub- turned-eatery kind of way. Otherwise, lovely location with a play area for the children. By all means stop by if you're on a bike ride, but if by car, drive on.

Always a winner in my book, especially as it's healthier than many fast food places and the meatball marinara is available any day of the week!
