Oakwood Theme Park - Narberth
Canaston Bridge, Narberth, Wales SA67 8DE
26-11-2008
We are going every summer to Oakwood with the kids (well, teenagers) and we love it! Ok, it might not be the biggest amusement park there is, but I think that has it advantages too. There are no horrendous long cues for the rides for instance! Parking is free and the entry fee is reasonable (check website for updates). The park is kept nice, tidy and clean and there are plenty of areas for you to have a little picnic. Our favourite ride is Megafobia – a wooden rollercoaster ride that leaves you gasping for air! I swear my backside didn’t touch the seat for 95% of the ride – it was FANTASTIC! There is lots more and something for all ages. Definitely worth a visit!

The shop may have good quality or reasonable priced items, but we didn’t really get the change to check that out properly. We weren’t even half way through the door and a sales assistant jumped us. We told him that we just wanted to have a look around and left him standing there. He left us alone for a whole 5 minutes before prancing on us again! So, we informed him that we just wanted to have a look at some different mattress types (coil, latex or memory foam). Big mistake, as we then couldn’t get rid of him at all and he dragged us to the most expensive items (obviously) in the store and kept on telling us what a great deal he could make us today and just today of course! In the end I had to be quite stern and tell him that we would not buy or make any deals today. Still, he didn’t give up and told us to come back at the weekend as he could make us an even better deal then. Talking about bad sales technique! It was borderline on bullying! And I don’t care what bargains they might have in the future as I won’t be going back there.

Great place! We organised a christmas party and hired their hall. The staff was great and helped out with everything. They even supplied all the christmas decorations. The room was big and there is a kitchen, a bar, a dancefloor and a stage for the entertainment. We had plenty of time to decorate and prepare the hall. We supplied our own food, but got them to supply the drinks and prices were really cheap. And even though it was our job to clean up the staff just chipped in and helped! It was a great night for everyone and without them it wouldn’t have been have as nice. Thank you very much!

A musical that can be enjoyed by the whole family. I have to admit though, that Joseph has always been one of my favourite musicals and I was a bit apprehensive if Lee Mead could follow in Donny Osmond footsteps and match his performance. And I am happy to report he did! Lee Mead’s performance in this piece was convincing, delightful and a treat to any musical ear. So much so I had to wipe a little tear from my eye! Well done, Lee! The rest of the cast were superb too. They audience was involved and taken away by the story told and it was certainly an unforgettable experience.Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

If you have recently watched Merlin, you might have recognised Puzzle wood. A superb place to go and loose yourself (literally). LOL
Your imagination has no limits here and I am sure if you stay long enough you could see Golum. Tolkien spend a lot of time in the Forest of Dean and apparently has used Puzzle Wood as inspiration for Lord of the Rings.
It will take you back in time and you can imagine the ancient Iron ores. It is simply out of this world and unmissable! If you haven’t been - go now!
They also have an inside wooden maze, which is great fun and quite a few animals to see too.

I have visited Tintern Abbey on numerous occasion. For access to the actual abbey they charge a small entry fee, but you don’t have to go in to enjoy the surroundings and atmosphere there. There are numerous little shops and cafes near by, a good restaurant and plenty of places to have a lovely walk. Or just sit by the river Wye and watch the world go by. It is certainly worth a visit! Oh, and if you go, pop in the little tourist shop and have a cone of 'Welsh Gold’ icecream. Best icecream ever and it is locally produced in Devauden! Even in the evening as the abbey is lit and it looks great.

The best indian food you can imagine and more! A small restaurant, which looks more like a little english teashop. But the food is out of this world and the service is fantastic. The staff is so friendly and always suggest something new for you to try. This has to be my favourite indian restaurant ever! Look for the waiter with the luscious lips, he is a real sweetie!

Was will der Mensch mehr?
