Another soulless uninspiring shopping mall. The only good thing about is that it’s more compact then Westfield Shepherd’s Bush. You can also avoid most of the shopping centre if you only are headed for the Waitrose/John Lewis/Great Eastern Market by taking the DLR to Stratford International.
The rest of the shopping mall is as uninspiring as these kind of places tend to be. Some of the shops are smaller than your average shop on the high street. The restaurants in the mall area too noisy. If you want a quiet meal, this is not the place. For food take the tube into central London. A characterless shopping-mall that fills it’s purpose..but not much more.
If you love chains go there, if you love places with atmosphere go somewhere else.
shitakemushroom Yes it has all the usual high street shops, but they are all under one roof, and it works out cheaper to go here for the locals. I know residents for whom travelling to Central London works out to be quite expensive, so it is a good option for a lot of people. As for it being soulless, who cares? It’s not like you are going to live there. You are just going out to buy stuff, and for most people that would be an occasional trip. The local shopping facilities in this part of London are poorer than this centre, so overall, it is OK I think

philios1 You probably have a point. I go there weekdays nowadays with less people.

bexb-d It’s been upgraded a bit, but Westfield just dominates it! I don’t think it’ll last!

At Starbucks I drank the worst caffe latte ever! Starbucks is the worst coffee-chain with no character. The other ones can make coffee: Starbucks can’t and their name is so Yesterday!

Total horrible..the tiniest Express I ever been to and they have absolutely nothing on the shelves. If I could give it zero marks I would!

I visited Kipferl some weeks ago and I liked it! Not like a viennesse coffee house but still good. I ordered a apfelstrudel and tea. Both really good. The staff was friendly and on my way out I bought a bottle of wine and Mozartkugeln. For me its good that they are so near there I live so I will certainly go back! And I can speak German with them which is good and also makes it feels like I’m back in Austria.
