Le Rockingham Arms, Public House, Hotel et Restaurant est situe dans le village historique de Wentworth pres de Barnsley. C'est un batiment impressionant vetu de pierres qui comporte un agreable jardin a biere entoure d'arbres et d'une verdure unique, un endroit idea pour passer une apres-midi d'ete en regardant calmement le sport, et en buvant un ou deux verres de biere. Le pub possede un hotel a 11 chambres, situe en face du pub. En plus, une grande "grange" a l'arriere de l'hotel sert aux fetes de mariage et autres fetes, et c'est aussi la base du club de folk et un endroit ideal pour de la musique live.

En octobre 2008, on a sejourne au Husa Imperial Tarragona pour un fabuleux sejour de 4 nuits, il se trouve dans un endroit parfait donnant sur la mer et le magnifique amphitheatre. Les chambres sont modernes et confortables avec un mini bar, un seche cheveux et un coffre fort. Le personel etait serviable, et parlait un anglais adequat. Le meilleur de l'hotel c'est le magnifique petit dejeuner, la salle de petit dejeuner eclairee et aeree avait des tables de fruits frais et secs, un choix de cereales, pains, patisseries, viandes froides et fromages, lard chaud, oeufs, saucisses, une variete d'huiles et de sauces, notament la sauce Catalonian Romesco... delicieux et une abondance de fruits de choix, thes et cafes.

El impresionante establecimiento, de piedra y cerámica con hiedras tiene una preciosa terraza rodeada de árboles y una bolera única, un sitio ideal para pasar una tarde de verano viendo jugar a la gente mientras se disfruta de una pinta o dos. El pub es también hotel de once habitaciones, situado al otro lado de la calle. Además, un gran granero en la parte de atrás es sitio para hacer bodas y otras funciones, y es donde se reúne el Folk Club y se toca música en vivo.

En octubre de 2008 estuvimos en el Husa Imperial Tarragona durante unas fabulosas cuatro noches. Es un sitio de primera junto al mar y el magnífico anfiteatro. Las habitaciones son modernas y cómodas con un minibar, secador, caja fuerte... El personal fue muy servicial y hablaba buen inglés. Lo mejor del hotel, el magnífico desayuno, el salón de desayuno aireado y luminoso estaba adornado con mesas de fruta fresca y seca, cereales, panes, pasteles, carnes y quesos, bacon caliente, huevos, salchichas, aceites varios y salsas incluyendo la salsa romesco catalana... delicioso, y con abundante selección de frutas, tés y cafés.

Rufi Restaurant is situated in the Palaca de la Font. The food is of dubious quality, as someone who enjoys their food it is not too strong a statement to say it is the worst meal by far that I have ever eaten…or in fact left. The toilet was disgraceful, there was half an inch of “liquid” on the floor, on which floated the toilet seat! Rufi does not warrant its location in such a beautiful square, it certainly is the blot on the landscape.

The Meadow Farm is a relatively new pub and restaurant, two minutes from Junction 34 on the outskirts of the village of Ecclesfield. Predominantly an eating establishment rather than a pub that has its locals, the large building is clean and spacious with lovely décor. The peak times are Sunday lunch when the restaurant gets really full and weekday tea times. The delicious and very reasonably priced menu ensures there is always an abundance of customers for the friendly and efficient staff to serve. The desert selection is really good and the carvery is always hot and fresh. There is a lovely patioed area outside for those wishing to smoke or just watch the world go by.

Barnsley Market is a great place to spend a Saturday morning. The indoor market is a treasure trove where you can find fresh eels to the most obscure nut or bolt the most avid of DIY experts would need. Stalls selling fresh bread, pies, dripping, cows heel and tripe give the impression you have stepped in to another time. The friendly calls from the Market holders will entice you to try things you may never have otherwise considered. The prices are hard to beat and everything is so fresh it is difficult to resist eating it on the spot. Outside there is a good variety of stalls ranging from good quality materials to a shoe stall that cannot be beat for designer shoes at rock bottom prices. A word of warning though, the grab the bargains boots and shoes you need to be there early, and be prepared to shove and push or you will be left with nothing other than the sight of your fellow shoppers gleefully walking away with the bargains.

In the centre of Rotherham, you will find amongst the many pounds shops, only a few larger stores as most have re-located to the nearby shopping centre, Parkgate. One of the stores you will still find in the town centre is Primark. The store is housed in the old BHS building and gives an impression of utter chaos on entering. The floor is always covered in debris, old price tickets, coat hangers, wrappings and gives the appearance of general disarray. The clothes appear to have just been thrown up in the air and wherever they have landed is where they’ll stay. Queues are always longer and the staff are aloof and disinterested. Why do I go in then? I have only been in the store a handful of times to try and seek out the elusive bargains everyone else seems to find. However after one too many visits I have yet to do so.

Morrisons in Ecclesfield on the outskirts of Sheffield is in a prime location for anyone leaving the motorway. The parking is adequate for the size of the store and there is a petrol station on site although there are always queues for the pumps. The staff do seem to lack in customer skills and you will find that you will regularly have to wait for them to finish their conversations in groups of two or three before someone will serve the waiting customers. Choice at the store is very good and there are always bargains in abundance. This is something Morrisons need to focus on as they do not offer online shopping and therefore need to step up the game as far as attracting customers is concerned.

Asda, in Chapeltown on the outskirts of Sheffield is a relatively small store in comparison to the superstores that are beginning to spring up around the country. However, the warmth and friendliness of the staff, all of which seem to have been there years, more than makes up for the lack of choice that is often the case if looking for something that is not quite the norm. Unfortunately on most visits you will find space in the aisles a problem as for some reason there always appears to be the middle metal cages used when re-stocking the shelves, blocking the aisles. Which would begger the question, why not re-stock at night or times other than Saturday when the place is already packed. Prices are good and parking is more than adequate.
