after a a period away from qype i finally found a place i want to rave about!! my senitments are exactly as for those that have reviewed before me!

though it is expensive, but bare in mind, the grandeur of the place, table cloths, an linen napkins. the number of staff per area, its worth the little extra!! also all the ladies left with a rose, though gimmicky, was a very nice touch.

they have a buffet which we will definately try at some point! (ring for times)

we had the a la carte menu, of nepalese chicken, can’t remember the lamb dish hubs had, an cannot find fault with any thing, the lamb was lean and melted in the mouth. (no fatty or grissly bits) the spice level just so. the menu offers a choice of spice levels an love the terminology they use to discribe the dishes, ie for the weaker palette, etc its an extensive menu, with the normal rogan josh, korma dishes (about similar pricing as other indian restaurants, its the specialty dishes that cost more) an some that i’ve not seen before. but we both tried out new dishes, an both were superb an tasted different from each other. mushroom rice, peshwari nan, takka dahl (this had a touch of coconut in it, which was perfect for the spicier dishes we had) an a sag ponier, excellent! not forgetting the poppadoms an pickle tray! and for once a choice of two onion salads! as we both adore onion salad, theres always a fight for the last scoop!

in fact there was enough left for a doggy bag, an the left overs were placed in plastic containers, an did very nicely for, my poor son who had to stay at home! and even he enjoyed the lamb dish! as he normally wont eat lamb as he finds the meat fatty.

the atmosphere is relaxed, but attentive, so no hovering as you eat! so you never feel rushed. its a large restaurant, but the seating plan an lay out, gives you a sense its smaller then it is an adds a cosy feel to the place.

there is a large comfortable lounge area you can sit in after your meal or while you wait for a table, price for drinks as you would expect, nothing made me gasp an think i’ll have a small one or water please.

the ladies toilets, very clean! through out, even in the corners! in fact i found it hard to spot gathering of dust anywhere in the restaurant!

also the car park is a nice size an all bays well marked. so why travel into york, pay for car parking??

    Cineworld Hull

    1pxt podding_about last updated on 19-12-2008:

its only 3 stars as i find the price of going to the cinemas now, rather extortionate! £4.00 for a large bag of popcorn!! (not even in a bucket!) and £2.75 for a bag of revels!

went to see inkheart, as a birthday treat for my son, tickets cost us £12.40 for the 3 of us, including the free orange wednesday ticket! there was only 1 ticket stand open, so there was quiet a wait, to get tickets. so the service wasn’t exactly matching the prices they were charging.

its a nicely laid out cinema, with a bar up stairs, easy to find which screen you want to go to. and the seating is very spacious! and set out, so if a very tall person sat in front of you, there head won’t block your view! its one of the better large cinema complexes near me.

    Tampopo

    1pxt podding_about last updated on 19-12-2008:

went friday 12th dec for lunch, please note you have to pull on the door to get in! funny point to add, but we did stand outside looking a little silly, as hubs was pushing for dear life to get in. as we were early, the restaurant wasn’t that full, but it did fill up pretty quick, once we managed to get in.

once in, the service was fast and friendly! the lunch menu offered a nice selection of curries and noodles. i had the penang curry, and hubs the udon noodles. both meals where excellent! i tried hubs noodles and they where really tasty! portion wise, if your big eaters like we are, then order some extra side dishes!
i think the food in this tampopo is better then the one i visited in manchester city centre, which is also very good! and for the service and quality of food, price wise its pretty fair.

i never used the toilet, but the whole restaurant looked clean, no bits of dust around the legs of the refactory styled tables, etc

forget what ever i’ve said about other indian restaurants! this one in the center of york is to date, the best indian restaurant, i have been to! and i would not say that lightly! the service was exceptional, and the food was heavenly!

we went on a monday night, girlie night out! the bill for 2 bottles of wine, 1 pint of cobra, 4 main dishes, 2 rice dishes and 2 side dishes plus the poppadoms and pickle tray came to just over £80.00!

my friend had a chillie chicken dish, and the spice mix was the best i have had for a hot dish, as with each mouthfull the spices came through along with the heat!

i had the lamb taj, in stead of my normal to be safe, i’ll have a rogan josh dish. the lamb was very lean and tender, this was not a hot dish, but it was very tasty! and all the other dishes each one was exceptional and tasted different! the chef is truely a spice mix master!

portion wise it was good, and as everything tasted so good and fresh, which is not normally a word i would use for indian curries, as i normally find them claggy or heavy on the palate. so we all ate more then what we normally do, well i did! as i often find at times food taste really good, but you can get bored of the taste mid way through? that was not the case with the food here! it was so good we were all eating, for eatings sake, so to speak!

the toilets at the back was 2 large cubicals 1 for men and 1 for the ladies, so there was some queuing, but these where very clean and provided good hand washing facilities!

up-date:- took poor long suffering hubby for a meal the other weekend, and like the 1st visit the food was superb! the restaurant was busy and as we had not booked we had to wait for a table, but it was well worth the wait! the service and food was excellent considering how busy the restaurant was. the atmosphere buzzed with people enjoying their food and general contentment. no overly noisey parties in or annoyingly loud people.

i’m surprised no one has reviewed my fav shoe shop in york, and in my opinion one of the best shoe shops in york center!

sales are fab for a bargain, the flora pom pom line they had on sale last year are now the most wanted on ebay! i brought a red pair myself, from office 2 years back! and wish i brought more. as they are a classic shoe!

the store offers different lines for everyones taste in shoes. there platformed high heels, are exceptional as i always find there shoes to fit well, well balanced and most importantly well made! as in the heel tips dont wear down fast, leather used does not crack or flake

    15th nov 08 update:-
this is more about there internet ordering then the stores, but i thought it was well worth a mention, as the service is spot on! the cost per order is £3.95, though i’m not sure if there is a limit, but i got 1 pair of ankle boots 2 pairs of shoes and some gators for that very small postage fee, cheaper then the popular uk auction site! thought the order came in 2 visits by UPS, they where easy enough to track on line, so you have a good idea when they will arrive!
its well worth looking through the site for sale bargains and some start from £5.00.

as for returns there easy enought, return the items you don’t want in 28days via recorded delivery or just drop them off at your nearest office store, with order sheets etc and they refund back to your account! and they foot the return postage this way.

so if your an office shoe freak like me, visit the site before lookin on the other popular internet auction sites, looking for a shoe bargain, but remember the shoes or boxes might not be in pristine condition, if you have brought from the sale/clearence lines. but at least the returns are free if returning to the store, unlike the popular uk auction site, and its a no quibble returns, as long as you have not worn the shoes, of course!

so you have to wait for your shoes, but you will save on parking, petrol and the shopping lunch costs that would have incurred on a normal shopping trip!
