I stayed in this hotel last night and have stayed several times before on business. I’ve always had a pleasant stay but have noticed this hotel get shabbier recently. When I got to my room the first thing I noticed that one of the windows didn’t have any curtains and the net curtains were really grubby. I asked for another room (preferably with curtains) and was given another. This second room was fine, although a touch shabby – paint peeling off the skirting, stains on the chairs etc.

As I had arrived around 8pm, I ordered room service but was told that they were only serving cold food so had to make do with a sandwich for dinner.

In the morning there was no hot water in my room, despite running the shower for 30 minutes. I was told the duty manager was going to reset the boiler. Well, whatever he did it didn’t work and I had to have a freezing cold shower.

I ordered my room service breakfast to arrive between 7am and 7.15am and it eventually arrived at 7.35am after I had chased it.

It’s a shame this hotel seems to be going rapidly downhill. Won’t stay here again.

I used to visit this shop lots when I lived locally a few years back. They have extended it and it’s crammed with stock which I have to admit is lovely with lots of different gifts and home wares. I visited today with my 4-year old daughter who was desperate to go to the toilet. I politely asked a member of staff who told me in no uncertain terms that they would not allow her to use their facilities. I find this quite mind-boggling that a shop would rather a 4-year old child relieve themselves in public on the pavement (which is what she ended up doing – desperate times!!) than offer the use of their toilet for a couple of minutes. I won’t be going back here – grumpy, unfriendly staff to say the least!

One of my favourite places ever! My 3 year old daughter also loves it. The food menu is limited but we're quite happy to share a ploughmans and a cupcake. I love the quirkiness and the mis-matched crockery.

There's so much to look at and my daughter loves the two dogs wandering around and Fanny and daughter Nelly always chat and say hello.

Wonderful place - I hope it never changes.

I booked my daughter in for a haircut here, having been myself a few times with no problems (other than a gripe that their attention to detail is lacking - not offering magazines, having very few magazines in the salon, not offering a drink etc).

I had 2 calls from the salon less than an hour before the appointment time asking me if I would postpone for 30 mins and as it didn't suit me, I said I wanted to stick to my original appointment time. Not the best customer experience!

The girl that washed my daughter's hair soaked her. I had to wring her dress out afterwards, it was totally unacceptable and she offered no apology and had a rather horrible attitude.

I asked to complain to the manager but was told the manager was 'too busy' to talk to me and she would call me at 1pm.

The manager called me at 4.10pm, 10 mins after I had made a call to Rush Head Office to complain. After a discussion, the head office agreed to refund me in full and apologized.

The one good thing I would say is that the hairdresser we had was very good and I'm pleased with my daughter's cut. I wouldn't go back though - some of the staff have definite chips on their shoulders.

Fabulous service. I've been in twice and the lady and man that run this shop really know their stuff and will advise you on what you need and also what you don't. I would highly recommend buying dance stuff from here rather than a dance school as there is more selection and you get a brilliant personal service.

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in for a while. My room was on the pokey side, but very clean and nicely decorated. The shower in the bathroom was amazing! The only thing I could pick up on was that they didn't supply any body moisturiser, but you do get full-size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The food was great and the service excellent. I can't comment on the location as I was attending a conference just around the corner so I'm not sure how central it is to Edinburgh.

Stayed here last week whilst on business in Manchester. The hotel was easy to find and was met by a really helpful and friendly porter who told me that I could park around the corner for less money than the hotel would charge me for parking my car. He took all my bags out of my boot so I wouldn’t have to lug them round to the hotel once I’d parked up and had them delivered up to my room.

My room was clean and spacious and had everything I needed in it. Although an opening window for a bit of fresh air would have been nice, but that was always going to be a challenge at 14 storeys high!

Room service was good and prompt and the breakfasts which I had served in the restaurant were plentiful and of a very good standard.

The hotel staff were all courteous and helpful and remembered my name which was a very nice touch. Would definitely recommend, even though the location isn’t great if you want to be in the heart of the shopping area.
