Great food, great value and friendly staff. Can't ever go wrong here.
Thai Gastrobar - Brighton

Rather disappointing place. Looks great inside and out so we were expecting a good evening. Unfortunately both service and food were poor in comparison.
The deep fried spring rolls and tempura were both very greasy. The stir fried beef dish which is a personal favourite at other Thai restaurants was heavily salted and ruined the delicate flavours I'm used to. Prices are not too bad though so perhaps that is the reason for the problems. Not likely to go back.
The Friars Oak - Hassocks

Lovely English food and a fantastic environment.
The Lamb Shank and any of the pies are firm favourites. Always busy here particularly in summer when the large garden is open.
Highly recommended.

Went here for lunch - lovely place and very friendly service. Food was OK but not spectacular - I had Chicken fajita foccacia sandwich, wife had eggs hollandaise breakfast. My chicken was overdone and her bread was cold. Flavours were nice though.
Biggest problem was that the food was very slow - over 30mins and there was only a few customers.

Great British food here and good local ales too. Portions are a bit mean but I think they are going for style and quality rather than quantity - unfortunately I prefer quantity… Large choice of dishes when you include the many specials they do.
As well as dining in the pub, they have a couple of private function rooms upstairs - we had a small family party in one. Decor was very rustic but chairs were probably a bit too rustic and not very comfortable.
Service was very good and very friendly especially since they had to keep coming up and down stairs.
(Not sure why it comes up as Chinese Restaurant in Qype though… It wasn’t when I went!)
