Chiringuitos. The amazing arrival of a beautiful beach bar, like a sunflower, arriving with the summer and leaving when the sun sets for the end of season. For those months of summer fun these are the places to go- and who can pass by Incaria without a sigh?
Billowing white cloth, potted palms, wooden decking…
All topped with a perfect caffeine punch that will get you through the inevitable 5am dance off.Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/

A great beach spot, and busy as all get out, so if you didn’t have a Spanish mate at hand to tell you, you would still catch on that this place is really good!
It’s reasonably priced, after Sangria jugs, bottled water, starters and mains (including paella worth fighting for) we paid €20 each.
So back to the paella… creamy, fresh, laden with seafood. They started from scratch (the proper way) so in the time it took to create it, we enjoyed Calamares Romana (amazing calamari) and Chipirones Andaaluza (which is potato covered in the best spicy cream sauce).
All this with an ocean view and very few tourists. Sold!Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/

An alternative haven in the heart of Gracia, that is the best summary of this quirky cocktail bar/ food spot.
Run by Italians it might be the hub of languages so far as Barcelona night life is concerned. They seem to easily span 5 or 6 between each of the tattooed pierced grunged up smiling staff.
That is the draw card here really, the relaxed atmosphere. Set in a long thin bar area, with lively art on the brightly painted wooden walls. Cheep cocktails and a happy hour that defies the length of 60 minutes.Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/

This up market clothing and home wares franchise is very popular in Barcelona. It is full of ballooning trousers, flowing shirts, and soft woven scarves. ‘Hippy with money’ style.
The best part of this store is that every item is ethically sourced. Each item is from an underdeveloped nation, made form an ethically sourced material, or created by a struggling person from a third world country (so really it is a bit embarrassing to complain about the extra €’s).
The jewellery here is great, very eclectic, and if you’re not after a flowing dress you can grab yourself a weird voodoo doll or a sting of lights or a great throw rug. Defiantly worth checking out (also looking out for the casa- home and banana-child version of these store).Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/

You’re a tourist? Best wander this odd avenue.
Ponder the artist impressions, check out the flowers and jewellery and trinkets, and of course the buskers in all their finery. Stride past the animals in cages Chicken anyone? No? How about a prostitute?
This is the central pathway down one of the main streets of the city, and you can’t really come here without attempting this stretch just once, but hold onto your belongings and keep your wits about you to keep it a pleasant stroll.Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/

Thai Lounge treated us to a lovely tasters dinner. Ask and you too shall receive!
Great vegetable curry, awesome vegetable rolls, and I was told the chicken and mussaman curries were tender and tasty too.
We got starters for 6, and 4 mains to share out. All fresh and subtly spiced, served in that quiet unobtrusive Thai way.
Cheep and peaceful, and happy to serve us dinner at 10pm, a very nice place to spend an evening if you’re all tapas-ed out.Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/

This florist seem to have taken their inspiration from the Garden of Eden, I swear it! No snakes or naked people, but other than that it is pretty similar.
This huge area is filled with all kinds of plants, from the perfected pretend versions (yes I was suckered into touching the silk roses to see if they were really fake) to the downright tropical anomalies. Rows and rows of perfectly formed large orchids in all shapes and varieties, going for €19? I had to ask to see if that was really true!
Walls flanked with pots and gardening equipment are layered with floral arrangements. Not your normal bunch of flowers, baskets and woven reeds with ornate arrangements, creating floral gifts that should normally leave you penniless!
Added to this haven are friendly English speaking staff- during my open mouthed wonder I was asked no less than three times if I needed serving.Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/

This is a great place to stop outside and admire the busy shopping avenue that is the Passeig de Gracia.
There coffee is pretty good, but there outside tables, slap bang in the middle of the walkway, sheltered under trees, well that is the best place for a little foot rest and a place to drop the shopping bags for a little while.Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/

As the long running joke continues, give them some happy pills, this store is only going to get more popular.
It is really just a sweet store, however due to genius marketing and design it really is so much more.
The whole concept is clever- load bottles, pill boxes, mini segmented containers etc with sweetie of your choice form the wall. Put your Happy Pills sticker, complete with pink medical cross on it and you’re away. Better still personalise it with a contents label with quirky text such as 30% blue sky, 23% smiles etc… or ones that say use to combat the unbearable lightness of being…
Totally irresistible!Posted to: missrachelle.wordpress.com/
