The Torriano is a superb pub tucked away a short-ish walk from Kentish Town station. The Landlord and Landlady are very welcoming to all and as an independent pub it’s not full of gastro-pub decor and all that nonsense it’s a good honest boozer open to all, you’ll see families with their kids mixing it up with musicians, media folk, builders and everyone in between including the odd friendly dog.
The hidden patio area tucked downstairs out the back makes a nice ares to relax in when the sun is blaring especially when the bbq comes out, and in the winter the comfy sofas make it a good cosy spot to hang out in especially on sundays with the papers.
The Torriano offers the usual range of beers and a good selection of wines. It also offers free wi-fi should you need to check your email.
I’ve been quite a few times there now, for the quiz night a couple of times as well as for parties in the recently refurbished basement which looks like you are in a dive bar with hanging curtains and blood red walls. They also put on regular events including gigs.
The pub has been under threat from property developers but an appeal with the council seems to have been successful in keeping the pub going.

There is something about Salvador and Amanda that makes me want to go back again and again. The food is great and reasonably priced, the special offers such as half price Sangria during happy hour and the late license at weekends where you can dance, chat and enjoy yourself all bring me back.
located just off Charing Cross road and very close to Leicester Square tube this place is great to get to for dinner before heading out on a night out in the centre of town or just staying behind after dining then drinking and dancing to the early hours. Get in early and you won’t have to pay an entrance fee.
There are two sittings available for dinner when booking online 5 and 7pm but once you’ve finished eating you can stay behind and carry on drinking the Sangria!

Tucked away near Kings Cross this place is a nice retreat from the main road. Good food at reasonable prices and a nice wine selection. When i’ve been it’s been reasonably busy but not overly so and I think it’s well worth hunting out.

South London pacific has it’s own unique charm with a mix of Hawaii, cheese, music, cocktails and downright fun.
The decor drops you right into the fun spirit of things with the bamboo and masks staring out at you from the walls. The cocktails are well mixed and the bar staff are friendly and for the less adventurous there are your usual beers and wines.
I’ve had the chance to see a couple of bands play here as well as to just enjoy a night out with friends. Theres room to dance, there room to chat and with the late opening hours you won’t believe what time it when you get round to leaving.
Some people may recognise the bar as I believe it is the cocktail bar from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

The Good ship is an intriguing venue, hosting a mix of live music, DJ’s and comedy throughout the week to the wee small hours. The layout of the venue is slightly odd the first time you go but soon you’ll come to love the pit area where the bands and comedians do their thing and want to get up to the raised balcony to overlook everyone dancing away late into the night.
I’ve been to quite a few of the comedy nights here and there has been nothing but brilliant talent every time with respected headline comedians coming back to play the venue again.
The music can seem loud at times but I’m putting that down to my slowly advancing years! A free jukebox with a great selections of albums is perched not far from the bar on those quieter nights when there is no live music or DJ’s and as well as the aforementioned music and comedy the Good Ship also shows the football for those inclined as well as hosting film nights as part of local film festivals.
