Really impressive pub. Loved the array and quality of drinks, good wines, good beers. Food was excellent pub fare. To get three good courses for under £20 was impressive, it is far from a cheap and cheerful place. Decor was spot on – fresh and clean but authentic, great fire. Staff were friendly and great with our small children. Very impressed.

More of a restaurant than coffee shop – a fantastic creperie. Good, friendly service and great value – with a great view of the port and windmill while you eat.

I’m a huge fan. I use this place for almost all of my meetings, despite having an office around the corner. My team love getting some daylight and it beats Nescafe and digestives all ends up. The team at Central really couldn’t be more welcoming either.

Very impressive. The bar continues to offer something different and slightly upmarket, while still unfussy. The restaurant however really impressed. Excellent quality and a really interesting menu, the only disappointment is that there were so few diners for a Saturday night. Can only guess that the proximity of the bar to the dining area may be a deterrent.

An astonishing find. We only found out about it by word of mouth. The portents weren't good: it's down a winding track and located on a caravan park (the restaurant toilets double up as the shower block). But the sleek modern barn conversion and welcoming downstairs bar immediately puts you at ease that you're in the realm of modern British cuisine. Great locally sources dishes and a strong wine list make it an elite eaterie (at an elite price). It's worth it though. My only minor gripe is the 'no kids' rule - great for atmosphere in the evenings but precludes weekend lunches.

Have updated this to 4 stars as it's vastly improved and the food and service are excellent. The playground is a great addition too. Top marks to the owners. (July 2011)
(old review from June 2010) A very frustrating pub. Good selection of beer, nice decor and very well situated by the village green, but the food is averge and beyond simple fare can be disappointing. Have visited twice in the last two months and the first time the service was very poor, the second time they had got to the start of Sunday lunch service before discovering their beer cooler was out of order. Has an awful lot of potential as they are getting 70% right, but will be a couple of months before I give it another chance.

Very disappointing. Staff were very friendly but the pub is in need of a refit as furniture and decor are very tired.

Restaurant isn't bad, but some of the pizzas are a touch ropey. Always seem to eat here on my first night in town though.

Likeable village pub. Good choice of drinks. Food menu doesn't have huge choice and is a touch pricey, but portion sizes are good and it's very tasty. Impeccable service and warm welcome.

Simply a magnificent pub, right on the money for informal but quality dining. Great food, lively little bar, garden that catches the sun and very friendly staff. Food is at the pricier end of the pub scale, but the service and quality is more akin to a restaurant so justifies it. If you're going at a busy time be sure to book.
