I have been going to Port Aventura for the past 4 years and still think it’s great. There’s something for all ages to do and see.

Each year they have different shows.

I always buy my tickets online before I go, usually google port aventura tickets and compare prices. We’ve always bought the 14 day pass as it’s the same price as the 3 day ticket you buy when you are there. We usually go to the park every other day when we are there so the 14 day ticket works out great and even cheaper than two days at a theme park in this country.

Go Discount is a great card shop, you can find a great range of cards and reasonable prices, they also stock everyday houehold items like bleach, black bags and batteries. They have a good pick n mix selection too.

Hetton Post Office is the only Post Office in Hetton now, it’s always busy and the staff are not very helpfull.

Home or Away are a great small holiday shop who offer great bargains. I found that the best thing to do is get a price of a holiday that you want from elsewhere first, internet or Hays Travel in Hetton, take this with you and the majority of the time they will match or better the price.
They also have their own taxi service to/from local airports.

Hetton Sports Complex is currently being knocked down and the plans are for a new Swimming Pool to be built, fingers crossed.

Hetton Lyons Country Park is owned by Sunderland Council who plough much more money into Herrington Country Park.

Most people use the park for dog walking, cycling, horse-riding or feeding the ducks/swans.

There is a fishing lake, two further lakes, one of which often has water sports on, there is a small play park for children and a building where you can buy hot drinks (not sure what the opening times are)

You do get the usual problems on a weekend with teenagers drinking on evenings, but usually you can have a pleasant walk out.

Westway Vets are really good and reasonably priced. The staff are great with my hyperactive labrador.

Nothing is too much trouble for them.

My daughter enjoyes having a bite to eat here, recenlty undergone a refurbishment. All food is made on the premises and always fresh.

Chiltern Cafe serves great home-made food at very reasonable prices. it’s a small cafe with very friendly staff. You get a proper mug of tea or coffee with your meal and they don’t skimp on the size of the meals either. Extremely great value for money.

Not as big a store as Superdrug but you can pick up some everyday bargains all the same.
