Sainsburys - Halifax

Wade Street, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 1SB

14-12-2011

We visited the new revamped Sainsbury’s store this morning for the first time in a while and were pleasantly surprised! I noticed the new scanning machine things by the door, but didn’t pick one up as I knew I’d spend more time playing with that than shopping! We browsed the children’s clothing section and found some lovely items for my 18 months old son. Gutted I never noticed the Gok Wan section!! We visited the deli counter, samosas mmmm! Then the fish bar, beautiful salmon on offer too! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The store was clean, well organised and well stocked. The car park was a bit like a maze, but other than that we had a very enjoyable visit. We will definitely be returning to this store. (I might let myself use the scanners next time!)

Claire's Accessories UK - Halifax

13 Woolshops, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 1RU

21-11-2008

I love Claire’s Accessories. It is full of pink pink pink! Lots of girly goodies at fantastic prices. They sell allsorts of accessories like earrings, bracelets, hair things, belts, some shoes, bags, feather boas. They have little gifts like diaries and notebooks, and have recently started selling cute Peppa Pig items! My daughter loves it in here we could spend hours just looking. Oh to be young again! They also do ear piercing you can see the kids sitting in the window getting it done. The staff in here are very friendly and helpful often dressed in goodies from the shop!

Topshop - Halifax

I’m not sure I like the clothes in Topshop. Yes there are some very unique pieces and a lot of high fashion items but some of the clothes, especially basic tops, are not of the best quality. This store in Halifax is very small and cosy, the staff are all very friendly. They have Topman upstairs which is similar in the quality of items. I like the sale rails in Topshop, as there’s always something unusual to be found at a decent price. A lot of the usual clothes are quite high priced but they do some fab shoes and accessories.

River Island Clothing Co - Halifax

7 Woolshops, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 1RU

This store is quite small, with not many changing rooms available. They have a good range of stock, with clothes, accessories, shoes and boots, nightwear and bags. Their prices are really quite expensive and I don’t think it’s very good value for money. They do have high fashion items but they are not a fantastic quality for the money. The staff seem to think they are better than anyone who dares to shop in their store and are not very friendly. It’s not a good shop for mum’s with buggies as the aisles are pretty tight. They do nice winter boots.

Dorothy Perkins - Halifax

This store is quite a small store, not as big as the one in the White Rose. There’s still quite a lot of choice, though they have stopped stocking the Tall section now. They have some really good quality clothes in the latest fashions and at really good prices, especially with a student discount card! I love the accessories, so much choice and so cheap. They have a decent shoe section too with some cool styles and some lovely handbags! They have a maternity section, quite limited but at least it’s there. There are loads of changing rooms and lots of friendly helpful staff.

Boots The Chemists - Halifax

7 Market Street, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 1PB

21-11-2008

This is one of the larger Boots stores, with advantage card machines and a photograph developing point. They sell all the usual toiletries, with an extensive perfume section. There are lots of babies clothes and toys at the back of the shop. This store has its own No7 counter and the women on here are so friendly and helpful. I saw one of them helping a little old lady choose some foundation, it was so sweet. There are a few tills so the queues aren’t too long. There is also the pharmacy section at the side for collecting prescriptions. Very handy right in the town centre.

Thorntons - Halifax

This is a little Thornton’s shop in Halifax town centre. It sells the most divine chocolates in the world. The shop is always very well stocked with so much to choose from. The staff are really friendly and helpful. There is sometimes a plate of free choccies to try as you look round! They will personalise your gifts for you free of charge and gift wrap too. There are often sales on in this shop with items up to half price! It is my favourite chocolate shop and so handy for town centre shoppers. I might have to pop in again when I’m in town tomorrow!

Greggs - Halifax

4 Woolshops, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 1RU

21-11-2008

This is a little Greggs shop in Woolshops in Halifax. They sell great cornish pasties and cheese and onion too. The steak bakes are good if you like big chunks of meat. I love the tuna crunch baguette sandwiches and the chicken salad seeded rolls. They also sell drinks like bottles of coke, and crisps and plain bread too. The sweet desserts are scrummy, vanilla slices, cream doughnuts and gingerbread men are just a few. It is great for a nice warm snack mid shopping trip, just enough to keep you going, and a nice cream bun for afters hehe.

Eureka! The National Children’s Museum - Halifax

Discovery Road, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 2NE

21-11-2008

This is a great place to take young children for a fun filled educational day out. There is so much for them to see and do and touch! There’s a bank to play in and a post office and corner shop, you can dress up as a post man and deliver post around the museum. There are lots of interractive displays which are educational as well as fun. You learn about the human body, animals, fish, robots etc. There is a garage where you can change a wheel and drive a massive truck! The cafe is a bit old looking but the food isn’t bad. You can take a picnic and eat outside on a nice day. The outdoor playground is good. They put some good events on in the summer, with a massive sandpit and ice ramp!

TK Maxx - Halifax

Unit 1 Greenmount Retail Park,, Pellon Lane, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 5QN

21-11-2008

This is quite a small TK Maxx store on a retail park out of Halifax. They sell menswear, women’s wear, children’s wear and homeware. They have a great selection of shoes and some fantastic handbags. It is a bit of a mish mash of items, no real order to them except for size. You really have to hunt for your bargains. Don’t go if you only have ten minutes to shop! The homeware section is quite small, and the toy section is small too. The staff always seem rushed off their feet, or was that because I went in on sale day?! Good bargains to be found here.
