The Battlesteads Hotel - Hexham

Wark, Wark on Tyne, Hexham, Northumberland NE48 3LS

17-01-2013

This place is lovely- my mother and I stayed last summer for just one night, and I wish it could have been longer. We had a nice twin room- slightly dated but very clean and comfortable, I suppose you'd call it quaint. The bar areas were very comfortable, but it's the food that really got me. I surprisingly had the nicest fajitas I've tasted! They also had a great selection of local cheeses. The waitstaff are all very knowledgable about the food and wine, and were more than happy to advise.
We really enjoyed our stay, hopefully we'll be able to come again.

99 Club - Leicester Square

28a Leicester Square, London WC2H 7LE

04-08-2012

Terrible show, MC was embarrassingly bad and the fold-up chairs were so tightly packed together that people couldn't even get into their rows.

slim jims liquor store - Islington

112 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 1QN

20-10-2011

This place has a weird £3 entry fee on Saturday nights, but it’s open later than some of the surrounding watering holes and there was a dance floor, so we paid.
Loved the music and the drinks weren’t too expensive. There’s also a bra ceiling! Hundreds and hundreds of bras. So I guess that was cool. Mainly hipster/indie crowd with the odd Greek businessman thrown in.

The Book Club - Shoreditch

100 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4RH

26-09-2011

We went to the Book Club on Saturday night. There was about a 20 minute wait to get in, which is fine really, but it was extremely hot inside and it was packed to the rafters with painfully cool hipsters (to be expected in the area). Entry was £5 and drinks weren’t too badly priced. The decor is pretty nice, I like the open plan of the upstairs room and the light-bulbed ceiling downstairs is striking. They had an amazing band playing downstairs as well, we were twisting the night away to the rockabilly tunes (I have no idea if those two things are from the same era). Overall, a fun, reasonably priced place that I would to go to for a dance rather than to try to chat with friends.

Fabric - Farringdon

77a Charterhouse Street, Finsbury, London EC1M 6HJ

15-09-2011

Yaaay Fabric! Had some of the best nights of my life there. I might be slightly too old for all the adventures now :(

slappychops Oh I can cut a rug, those young things don’t stand a chance next to me on the DF!
It’s the deadly hangovers that I can’t handle anymore ;)

sarahdrinkwater Tell me about it – a 22 year old told me I was a bad influence yesterday. So proud!

Taylor Taylor - City of London

137 Commercial Street, Spitalfields, London E1 6BJ

09-09-2011

Taylor Taylor has killed all other hairdressers for me. I will never actually be able to get my hair cut anywhere else without the crushing disappointment that comes with overly high expectations.
Got a cut and style yesterday, looks a-ma-zing but I’m not going to disclose the name of my stylist for fear of too many people trying to get onto the books ;)

The Vintage Emporium & Coffee House - Bethnal Green

14 Bacon Street, London E1 6LF

28-08-2011

We wandered in here one day and loved the decor and the coffee. It’s quite relaxed.
Unfortunately we’re not local, otherwise we’d love to come here more often!

Tina, we salute you - Dalston

47 King Henry's Walk, Dalston, London N1 4NH

28-08-2011

This place is a bit squashy, but the coffee is excellent and well presented, and I like how they change the artwork every couple of weeks. The shared table with communal condiments is also charming.
Great name too!

Home House - Marylebone

20 Portman Square, Marylebone, London W1H 6LW

15-08-2011

Excellent private member’s club. I’ve practically been living there the last few days while I wait for a plumber to fix my shower. They have everything you need- gym, meeting rooms, restaurant, bar. The staff are extremely attentive and the cocktails are amazing. It gets a little sleazy on the dance floor on a Friday night, but otherwise you can be guaranteed to have a good night.

The Arch Climbing Wall - London Bridge

6 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 2ER

08-08-2011

This place is great fun, make sure you get a lessons! We’re new to rockclimbing so we were on what was essentially the kiddie wall but it’s a great way to spend the afternoon and the staff are all really helpful.
