Lingards Nightclub - Bradford

29-31 Westgate, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 2QT

19-11-2008

This used to be one of the most popular nightclubs in bradford but has now become one of the most as it seems to encourage trouble there as it is in a lonely part of town that isnt supervised well. The place is popular with the young teenyboppers maybe because they can get in and away with boozer underage i dont know. The interior is very dark and depressing and its hard to see how you could spend your evening out here.

Roswitha Delicatessens - Bradford

19-24 John St Market, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 3SR

19-11-2008

This has been a feature of bradford forever. I rememeber my grandad used to queue here for pits tongue and trotter. This is just in the doorway to oastler so you can miss it as it is tucked in the corner. They sell allsorts of differrent type of foods from places like poland, etc. They have a good assortment of soda breads and biscuits and pies and cakes and the like. They have an impressive array of sausages and the like which are strung up waiting for you. Their biscuits are lovely and at christmas they do them in fancy xmas tins. The prices are dear but it is genuine foreign food so it is worth it for the diffferent taste.n They also do a good selection of teas and coffees which are impressive.

Wilkinson - Bradford

John Street, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 3JU

19-11-2008

This is a huge walkabout store with 2 floors. downstairs there is a huge selection of sweets, cards, gift wrap, crafts, cdrs, folders, photo albums and stuff for you. There is also a pick and mix of sweets. Upstairs there are the usual like toiletries, pet stuff, car stuff, photo frames, food items, gardening supplies, etc. They sell more or less anything you could possible need from bakeware to wallpaper and paint. they have a cooler that has a small selection of sandwiches and wraps and soft drinks which are nice and fresh. The store is large and spacious and there is a lift between floors or escalators. The staff are nice and friendly but there isnt enough of them. They have a cashpoint upstairs near the entrance too and a lift to get out from. The doors are fully automatic which is a plus too. Very decent prices too.

Industrial Museum - Bradford

Moorside Road, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD2 3HP

19-11-2008

This is a nice little museum showing all the old days and what trades they used to do - they have some very impressive displays showing what it was like to work in t’mill and there is also some of the old equipment for you to look at. There is a good display showing you inside the old mill cottages and also highlighting the work of the barges in bringing and taking the stuff to the other places. There are some lovely old shire horses which are dressed up to look how they used to. They have a selection of old buses and cars for you to look at and you can go inside one of the buses to look at it. There is a selection of old equipment and stuff they had. This is a lovely day out. There is a little cafe too for you to grab a quick bite and carry on through the musuem. The place is lovely and the staff are very friendly. They also give talks and that sometimes so be prepared to see and book for it.

Panini Shack - Bradford

16 Bank Street, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 1LE

19-11-2008

This is a nice little sandwich shop next door to thorntons on the side. They do a good range of paninis, baguettes and pastys and pizza slices. They also do a small range of soft drinks and crisps and muffins and flapjacks to go with your main. They do meal deals so you could have a bageutte with crisps and pop or other deals for cheaper. The sandwiches are made fresh but there are a couple already waiting for you which have just been made but you can ask for a fresh one made up for you and they have a huge board full of different ones you can have. Their cornish pastys are huge and absolutely gorgeous. The prices arent too dear either. The staff - a young lad and his sister and an elder man - are absolutely lovely and very friendly. The prices arent too dear either.

Bakers Oven - Bradford

The Kirkgate Shopping Centre, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 1TQ

19-11-2008

This is a nice convenient bakers but does get very busy and watch out for the pusherins. They are based at the entrance to the top part of kirkgate market stalls so it does get busy. They are only small so be prepared. There is a cooler full of sandwiches and treats and drinks but while you try get something you are being squashed by the queue. There is then a display of very tempting sandwiches which are lovely and fresh always. They sell the usual bakerie items with a few more added - they have the best selection of cream cakes in bradford which is good too. The staff arent the friendliest but they are very busy. The prices arent too dear either.

Gala Casino Bradford - Bradford

Vicar Lane, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 5LD

19-11-2008

This is hidden away at the top of town in the leisure exchange and at first we didnt realise it was inside the hotel lobby entrane - we walked past a few times and were gonna go to the cinema instead - but, apparently it is all singposted now. We werent that impressed with the atmosphere as it seemed full of little old ladies playing the machines and made us think we were at bingo. We were after the card rooms but because there was only a couple of us wanting to use them are there was noone else they wouldnt open one up so we went on the wheel instead. After Cashing in about 50quid between us (we arent that rich you know) we werent really sure about what to do but the assistant explained it all to us - i even came away doubling my share of the 50 quid but the missus didnt so we didnt gain anything. They have the usual casino games to play at but all werent staffed. The place is huge but there was about 12 people in at the most. No atmosphere. very clean. There was a nicely stocked bar. The staff looked fed up. Wouldnt go again unless it has got busyer since.

Early Learning Centre - Bradford

7 Market Street, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD18 3RN

18-11-2008

This is a really good toy store and always full of the traditional toys of yesteryear and the toys of today. Most of the toys they sell if not all of them have an educational value in some way other like telling the time, structured play, how to do shoe laces, etc. They have a good selection of zoo and farm animals all at pocket money and i used to love taking mine to choose a couple every week and then to choose the different outbuildings, etc. They also do some really good musical instruments and craft stuff for your kids. The staff are lovely and love to get down and play with the kids. A very good place to go with lots of toys out for the kids to try.

Rawcliffes - Bradford

42-44 Darley Street, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 3HN

18-11-2008

This is more than just a school uniform shop - they also sell sports wear and accessories like gold clubs, tees, balls, hockey stuff, tennis balls, etc. They have a good supply of trainers and that too. Upstairs is the uniform part and true they are very dear so unless you have to get the proper gear for school id go elsewhere and get a cheap copy. The quality isnt the best for the uniforms either but they still charge topnotch and if you need to take something back they are very ignorant about changing the item for you - if you dont have a receipt dont try. The place is huge but there is no disabled access to upstairs. The place is clean and tidy but it has a bit of a musky old smell upstairs and the changing rooms has only a curtain over the doors. The staff arent the friendliest ever.

CCL Computers - Bradford

Inmoor Road, Off Cross Lane, Tong, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD11 2PS

18-11-2008

This is an absolute godsend for computer gear. The stuff they sell is the cheapest prices you can get hold of in bradford and you can also order them over the net and have them delivered instead of going up there. The prices are really good and the quality is absolutely topnotch. They have bits and bots for your computer that you find hard to get - from the bits that go inside the computer to additional ram and extra hardware. They will also advice you in how to go ahead and fit the things you have bought. The staff are lovely and they are very reliable.
