Boars Nest Restaurant - Hull

One of the more up market places to eat out - definitely also on the pricier side (especially for Hull). In fact, judging by the prices the nest seems to be more located in London than Hull. The question is, does the food live up to the expectations? Well. I found the food good, definitely a touch above average. The portions were not large, but for a Londoner in exile, they were reasonable.
Service on the other hand had quite an attitude - especially when we asked to something from a different menu as no item on the lunch menu had neither pork or seafood in it (which my co-eater did not eat). A vegetarian option was equally not available, which was quite disappointing. This attitude was a bit off-putting - as being accommodating to international guests seemed to cause an issue. Not something I'd expect in a place like this!

Ok, this is a fish and chips place, so any expectation of sitting down and having a nice meal while sipping some good wine is a no no. BUT for what it does - the fish and chips (take away only!) is quite something. It almost tastes "meaty" - and the portions are huge.
I seem to remember that it was voted Hull's best chippie - and I'd agree. A great place for the occasional FnC cravings!

Nice Chinese restaurant, just across from the station.
I had Chicken in Chilli Sauce, which was nice but not particularly special. It was definitely better than a run of the mill take away though - and freshly prepared. The service was extremely friendly, and constantly refilled my large cup of Chinese tea (which was only £1).
The food arrived really quickly, so the place is great when waiting for a train to catch - and definitely a nice alternative to the formulaic restaurants in St. Stephen's.

A lovely place in the centre of Hull. Being set in the Hull Truck theatre it feels a little cold at first - but the food we had was great, the service extremely friendly and the prices very good. Definitely a good find - especially for a pre-theatre dinner.
Franze & Evans - Shoreditch

A nice place for a relaxed weekend brunch. Good food, decent coffee and good location. Very busy though - so may be difficult to find a free place.
Lufthansa German Airlines - Westminster

Efficient when it works - but an absolute disgrace when anything goes wrong. Their notion of customer service is non-existent, for example in the case of the recent snow chaos at Heathrow where lots of flights were canceled.
As a comment to the previous review: They now seem to have taken the comment about the tasteless cheese sandwiches on board... and are now serving ham sandwiches (rather tasty actually!). Unfortunately, that many people (like my partner) don't eat ham doesn't seem a consideration, and they don't carry any alternatives. So if you are vegetarian/Muslim/Jewish then you will not get anything else. Having flown to Germany on pretty much any other airline that flies, I'd recommend to avoid Lufthansa unless their price is seriously worth it.

Great shirts and suits, but the most blasé staff imaginable, who seem to have little interest in helping you chose the right product (a suit in my case) . Better to stick to one of the other branches of this chain - where they provide service!

Lovely service and good steaks. Excellent location overlooking the river. Good place for a nice romantic dinner on a summer eve.

Breakfast place specialising in big portions of pancakes (crepes), eggs, french toast or yogurt topped with enormous amounts of fruit. A great day to start the day (almost) healthy.

A solid Turkish restaurant (and bar) serving all the usuals. Nothing really surprising on the menu, but a good place to go for a quick bit when around Vauxhall.
