Tattinger Marsh - Marlborough

142 High Street, Marlborough, Wiltshire SN8 1HN

Great for a browse, but oh its so expensive! It has alot of the fashionable french distressed style furniture, cath kidston accessories and other soft furnishings. There is a warren of rooms in the cellar to browse through which is fun. The staff keep a low profile unless you engage with them, i like this as you can feel like its ok to leave without buying anything, which i often do!

The merchant's house - Marlborough

132 High Street, Marlborough, Wiltshire SN8 1HN

A lovely shop with an assortment of gifts for sale. I was really surprised when i found out that the staff there are volunteers and the profits all go towards the restoration fund of the Merchants House. There are some back rooms to browse in where you get an idea of what the house is really like, or take the tour its a little over £4 i think but really worth it if your into your history.

I love to take family and friends to Pollys as a treat, the old fashioned surroundings are quaint. Be prepared to queue as its very popular and you can’t pre book.

A great place for a light bite and to sit and watch the world go by. When the weather is cooler you can sit outside and wrap up in one of the armadillo blankets and have some hot fresh soup. I am yet to try the zucchini cake but I have heard good things. Very attentive staff.

A truly wonderful find. We drop by here to buy our lunch on the way to work and at the weekend to get a small picnic for our local walks. The food is wholesome, homemade and great value, choose sandwich fillings that are classic or unusual. Choose from the biggest menu of milkshake flavours. Cakes, crisps, coffee and chocolate bars. There are a few chairs inside to eat in, the staff are full of local knowledge and very friendly. Take the kids in, they will love the small train that runs round its tracks on the. ceiling.

It took me a while before I went to this place because it doesn’t look much from the outside, and at night it is a pub and night club, so I didn’t fancy it as a cafe. But after trying all the cafes one day for breakfast and finding that all were now only serving lunch, disappointment led us here. To my surprise we got a full cooked breakfast, it was good food, quick and cheap and they serve it all day. You can sit outside in the sun, or the less glamorous inside where you get free wifi. The staff are young, friendly and capable but you won’t get the top notch marlborough service nor will you pay for it though.

Scoffers - Newbury

Scoffers is the best place in Newbury to get a cooked breakfast, even when all the other places have moved on to the lunch menu.
At Scoffers they serve you great food, quickly and at amazing value. Now that Woolies has gone this place doesn’t have any decent competition.
