Waterloo Station - Waterloo

York Road, Waterloo, London SE1 7ND

30-11-2008

I love this station, as a newbie to the whole train thing, where it can be seen as quite uncool to travel by train back home, coming to Waterloo was a big eye opener. Its huge and there is so much hustle and bustle going one, yet its still function efficiently and all trains leave timeously.
There is no opportunity to get lost even though its huge, as everything is well sign posted and there are plently of helpful gaurds who will set you in the right direction.
Also there are many self service ticketing booths and there are usually many ticketing officers in the ticketing offcie waiting to help you. They are really helpful too, making sure you get the best deal.
Very impressed with this station and all the amenities on offer.
Even more so seeing as it was part of the last Bourne movie!
Oh yes and finally Krispy Kreme Doughnuts has a store here!!!

Chanteroy French Deli - Wimbledon

233A Wimbledon Park Road, Southfields, London SW18 5RJ

30-11-2008

yUM YUM YUM!! Family run deli serving very good value for money french loaf sandwiches with your selection of brie salami, emental, tuna mayonnaise, chicken mayonnaise and salds, to name but a few fillings.
The sandwichs are £2-£3.50 each and are delicious and huge, enough to fill teh gap. They also sell other french food and also some pastries are tarts. This deli is a few stores down from the station. If you in needof a snack or lunch pop in here. Their food is freshly prepared and just so nice!!
The shop is small so expect to queque (due to its popularity) akwardly till you are served.
The French staff are very freindly and patient as you try to decide from the multitude of fillinsg which to have.
Do yourslef a favour and stop here one day for a bite to eat.
No sit down dining offered only take away.

Southfields Station - Wandsworth

Wimbledon Park Road, London SW18 5RJ

30-11-2008

Tiny station, with only 3 self service tickets machines, depending on cash, card or cash and card payments.
There is also more often than not a ticket master in the ticketing booth.
Two platforms, one headed towards Wimbledon and the other across the river into London. Trains are fairly frequent.
There is a little snack store selling drinks and magazines/newspapers on the platform and another snack store at the ticketing booth.
No inside seating for the middle of winter.

Fulham Broadway Station - Fulham

470 Fulham Road, Fulham, London SW6 1BY

30-11-2008

This is a very convenient station, with shops, a gym, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and a cinema all rolled into one and of course a district line station. The trains are fairly frequent on this part of the district line, however the station can get very busy and is an absolute no go area when Chelsea are playing at home.
All in all a neat and modern station, with all the amenities one would need to make it a very convenient stop on the way home/to work.

Swindon Train Station - Swindon

Station Road, Swindon SN1 1DQ

30-11-2008

Small little station with four platforms, they have a little book and snack store where you can get hot drinks.
The seating area, is not very big and is somewhat exposed to the elements during winter.
There are several self service ticketing machines and a taxi rank just outside the main exit and a bus stop.
The main bus station is only 5mins walk away.
The train service however is not great, being First Great Western, I have yet to catch a train here that has been on time. They are all delayed or even cancelled. This is hence the reason for giving it only 2 stars, doenst hel if you have an efficient station, but bad train service. First Great Western, are anything but great.

Lush - Swindon

17 Canal Walk, Swindon SN1 1LF

30-11-2008

Yum this shops just looks amazing from outside, but once inside its like entering and amazingly scented cave of treasures.
I love this shop, just popping in for a few minutes without even buying anything can lift ones mood.
They offer a vast selection of unique soaps, bath bombs, shower jelly and natural face and body products, all moulded in ways and named so that they sound and look delicious along with smelling amazing.
This is a great shop to pick up a gift for a friend or simply pamper yourself.
Well worth a visit.

Gatsby's Hair Salon - Swindon

185 Victoria Road, Swindon SN1 3DF

30-11-2008

What a lovely hair salon.
The owner of the place is a great lady, very chatty and friendly and she definitely knows what she is doing. Her staff are also very friendly and also excellent hair dressers. She remembered me after only one visit, making you feel special, by adding that personal tough.
You are always offered a complimentary drink.
I have been very impressed with the hair cuts I have had done here.
Although they might be on the slightly more pricey side, you pay for what you get.
Well worth a visit for a very good cut.

Pizza Hut - Swindon

Orbital shopping Park, Thamesdown Drive, Swindon SN25 1XD

30-11-2008

Spacious Pizza Hut, situated just outside Asda, with both sit down restaurant and take away area.
The staff are friendly and generally quite helpful.
I have never been to this restuarant when it is busy and so it is very quiet and has a very subdued atmosphere, especially as it is so big inside.
The food is fairly average and the vegetarian meals have a lot to be desired.
Their pizza is not so bad, but you definitely can get better in town, possibly even in Asda itself.
Dont plan on going back any time soon.
Would not reccommend unless you are a Pizza Hut fan.

Greenwich Park - Greenwich

Greenwich Park, Blackheath, Greenwich, London SE10 8QY

30-11-2008

This is a great tousity park to visit, as not only is time governed here and you can stand on either side of the Greenwich meridian, but it is also a fantastic big park with a very large lawn and beautiful views from the hill top over London.
At the Greenwich observatory there is a little museum which has very interesting facts as to the beginning of time measurement. However even if you are not a history buff this is still an intersting place to visit and it is in close proximity to the Cutty Sark and the river taxis which offer a lovely trip down the river past many of the famous sights up to Westminster.
This is a nice place to visit for a day out of exploring London.
