Canonbury Arts - Canonbury

65 Halliford Street, Islington, London N1 3HF

18-11-2009 (updated on 26-11-2009)

Absolutely fabulous little materials shop, run by a couple of charming guys who really know what is what.

They deal primarily in bioresins which makes their products lovely and safe to play with, they use the producs they sell and are not too pricey.

Always helpful and friendly, I'd recomend them any day of the week!

They'll even put a telephone order in a cab for you!

Staunch and Flow - Ladbroke Grove

8 studio 160 barlby rd, London W10 6BD

24-11-2009 (updated on 26-11-2009)

A Staunch and Flow engineer visited my property this morning, having made the appointment yesterday.

He was polite, friendly and seemed knowledgable, however he did little more than check the flow rate, give the insides a quick clean and tell me I needed a new boiler, then charge me over 100 pounds for the pleasure.

I shall update this review once I have had a second opinion on the boiler situation!

I was aware of the hourly rate beforehand.

EDIT
I do need a new boiler. they are comming to fit one soon, have added another star for their efficient diagnosis... will review again once they have fitted the new boiler.

Barnett Lawson Trimmings - Fitzrovia

16-17 Little Portland Street, London W1W 8NE

An aladins cave of trimmings!

everything you ever wanted to sew on to anything can befound here, tucked away in this little undeground shop.

Its hard to find, and you have to ring a bell to get in. The staff are unhelpful, and can be a little snooty, and the prices are too high. Never the less I go back again and again for the sheer range of materials available!

Lead & Light Warehouse - Camden

35a Hartland Road, London NW1 8DB

18-11-2009

enter through the gorgeously designed doors into this exciting kingdom of glass and marvel at the sheer range of wondefull, fabulous pieces available.

This is a shop run by true entusiasts, catering for every imaginable aspect of glass craft.

Even if you have no interest in making stained glass, this shop is worth visiting just for the experience :)

S&M Tools - London

57 Leather Lane, London EC1N 7TJ

18-11-2009

A nice, down to earth tool/hardware shop. Its proximity to hatton gardens means that it stocks a range of jewellery/micro tools other shops don't, also unlike many of the shops in hatton gardens, it caters to the cheaper end of the market.

This is a great place to pick up generic 'dremel' bits (amongst other things!)

Alec Tiranti - Fitzrovia

27 Warren Street, Marylebone, London W1T 5NB

18-11-2009

A very expenive place to get your sculpting/casting tools and materials, though its useful to be able to pick up items you'd normally have to order off the shelf.

The staff know their stuff, and generally give good advice.

H.S. Walsh - London

44 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8ER

18-11-2009

good place to buy jewellry tools and materials, a little pricey, but good service and the staff definitely know their stuff. Don't be afraid to ask any questions!

Green and Red - Shoreditch

51 Bethnal Green Road, Bethnal Green, London E1 6LA

18-11-2009

having failed to get a table the past 3 times I turned up here, I finally booked in advance and had a simply excellent meal.

The food is much much better than any mexican resaurant I've been to in the UK (although thats not saying much) and the cocktails are fun if a little pricey.

go, but book in advance!

The Book Club - Shoreditch

100 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4RH

17-11-2009

I came here on a sunday evening when it was mostly empty, and hosing a craft market downstairs.

I had the best food that I have eaten out in a long time, enjoyed a fun game of table tennis and pool and chilled out in their incredibly low sofas.

I will definitely be going back!

Camden Lock Books - Old Street

4 Saint Agnes Well, Old Street Station, London EC1Y 1BE

Having walked past this little scruffy shop almost every day on my way to the workshop, I finally popped in and was confronted by a fabulous selection of choice reads!

Its nice to see a bookshop that still cares about the quality of whats on its shelves.
