Although small, Eguisheim is, for me, one of the more beautiful of the "wine villages" of Alsace - it has a lovely circular walk around the old town.
Perhaps because of its small size, it feels a little less touristy than the more famous places like Ribeauville and Kaysersberg, which can be a welcome relief after a while. That said, half a morning will suffice to see pretty much everything here and then you're ready to move on.
Being towards the southern end of the Alsace wine region, the wines here are superior to those further north, and there are plenty of opportunities to try and buy.

Eguisheim is a very pretty wine village towards the southern end of the Routes des vins in Alsace; with timbered buildings, squares, a water fountain and a circular walk around the village centre, the word “idyllic” is not out of place here.
It is also a great place to stock up on the local wines and whilst on a driving holiday here a while ago, I got some excellent Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling from Paul Schneider for very little money indeed.
