Subway - Embankment

Villiers Street, Charing Cross, London WC2N 6NN

17-11-2008

Subway serves subs, quickly and for cheap. They use mostly reformed meat (which is a bit gross) and their vegetarian options are limited to veggie patty (which is good). Their Italian BLT is fantastic, too.

Walk in, order a sandwich like this: Choose your bread, choose your meat, choose your salad. That’s it!

Subway - Westminster

39 Strutton Ground, Westminster, London SW1P 2HY

17-11-2008

I’ve been to so many branches of Subway. It’s good and consistent. And it’s super well priced. You can get a foot long sub for about £5. I’m tempted to get up mid-review and go down the 24 hour subway down on Oxford Street.

Suggestion: Try the veggie patty!

Subway - Bloomsbury

130-134 Southampton Row, Bloomsbury, London WC1B 5AF

17-11-2008

When you walk by this place it has the most amazing smell to it. You can smell the fresh bread baking. You know how SW works: You order at the counter, first choosing your bread, then your filling, and a variety of toppings like tomato, lettuce, onion etc. Cheap, filling, and quick. What more could you ask for?

Subway - Clerkenwell

18 Exmouth Market, London EC1R 4QE

17-11-2008

I like Subway because you know what you’re going to get. They are consistent, and very fairly priced. I also like that they’ve started to add baked crisps as of late. This is a good branch because they have unlimited refills on soda.

Wagamama Ltd - Islington - Islington

Parkfield Street, The N1 Centre, London N1 0PS

17-11-2008

I hate Wagamama. They have really gone down hill over the years. I was dragged here for a friend’s birthday. The service was terrible, the food was bland and greasy and generic. I have no idea why people like this place so much. This place is the McDonald’s of noodle bars. I can’t believe the public stand for a place like this. And to think they actually had a queue while other, superior places down the rood have gone out of business. It just makes me want to cry!

Benihana Restaurant - Mayfair

37 Sackville Street, Mayfair, London W1S 3HT

17-11-2008

I love Benihana. I used to go to one in Miami for my birthday every year. The London branches are a bit different from their counterparts in the US. The main difference being the pink sauce. In the UK it’s basically a mustard sauce.

The fried ice cream and friend banana desserts are fantastic.

The key to getting out of here alive (as in, with your wallet in tact) is to go for the 7 course combo menu. It’s around £20 and includes your choice of two mains, a salad, soup, california rolls, rice and some shrimp.

YO! Sushi - Islington

The Shopping Centre Parkfield Street, London N1 0PS

17-11-2008

It’s Yo Sushi. What do you expect? It’s fair priced, and the service is decent. But it’s a chain and it shows. Don’t expect anything fancy. As I’ve said in other Yo reviews, stick to the sushi as the a la carte menu tends to be a bit hit-or-miss. It’s a great place to go if you don’t want to sit down for a long, expensive meal and you just want something simple and safe (as in, you know what you’re going to get).

O'Neills, Angel, Islington - Islington

59 Upper Street, London N1 0PB

17-11-2008

Generic and full of mindless morons. I generally try to avoid this place. It’s a standard chain pub with sub-par food. The prices are decent, but you’ll be surrounded by annoying people. There is nothing authentic about this place. Not sure why anyone would bother visiting.

Broadway Market - Shoreditch

Hackney, London E8 4PH

17-11-2008

The food can be a bit expensive, but it’s generally of very high quality and extremely tasty. The baked goods are some of the best you’ll find anywhere. Very trendy, lots of scene kids. Go with a full wallet and an empty stomach. Try the fresh coconut water. The mushroom sandwich is lovely. Keep an eye out for a cheese and sandwich stall towards the centre of the market. The rosemary salami sandiwch is amazing.

London Fields - Hackney

137 Mare Street, London E8 3RH

17-11-2008

It’s the hipster park to end all hipster parks. London scene kids come from all over the East end to drink beer, see, and be seen. On Saturday, the adjacent Broadway Market offers a selection of hot food and baked goods to take into the park. Prime time is on warm Saturdays 12-5pm. But in the peak of summer, it stays crowded until as late as 8pm. Definitely a place to check out. And keep an eye out for a man selling home made ice cream, prepared right in front of you.
