Central Library - Ilford

Clements Road, London IG1 1LS

15-11-2008 (updated on 02-11-2011)

As local librarys go this one is pretty good. Spread over many floors it quite distinctive and has lots of services for people of all ages. Even has a local museum of ilford. The reference library is very good and about the same of most library in this class. On the ground floor they have a lively main area and you can use pcs if you wish. Also they rent out other media of most of librarys now like cds and dvds.

Its location is right of of them main high street and has a car park very near by

Londoner101 Only three stars ?? This is one of the better libraries I've been to, and rates at least 4 stars, your notes contain only praise and no negatives, so why the low rating ? My only fault with this library has been the occasional poor state of the public toilet, but even this is soon rectified by the helpful
janitorial staff.

The Mayor's Thames Festival - South Bank

99 Upper Ground, London SE1 9PP

17-11-2008

This is a great event spread over a week end, and ends up with a great fire work display on the Sunday.

The whole length of the Thames has things going on like stalls live shows etc..

All the famous land marks along the way have things going on like the Tate, South ank center & NFT. Its great fun for all and lots for kids to do. On the Sunday they have a night time parade. Only downside is the number of people that attend and it does get very crowded.

Rainforest Cafe - Soho

20 Shaftesbury Avenue, Soho, London W1D 7EJ

17-11-2008

The cafe is set in the west ne and is under a animal toy shop. Have only been once for a kids party and it’s was a different experience from most restaurants in London. The place is very distinctive as has been said already, so yeas jungle noises and the odd thunder storm do make it a very different atmosphere.

The food it ok and but not cheap, but for this part of London; the going rate. It did seem to be full of tourists so it first I thought it might be a real tourist trap. On reflection I just now think it’s a good place to go for a celebration of house a party. One for the kids , big or small.

Kew Gardens - Kew

Kew, London TW9 3AB

15-11-2008 (updated on 16-11-2008)

Kew Gardens is host to one of the biggest collections of plants from around the world. It was started in 1700`s by the joining two royal estates. Under the patronage of George III Kew Gardens developed into one of the foremost centres of horticultural research. In 184- the former royal gardens were given to the nation and now display 40,000 different plants. Victorian green houses stand crammed full of luxuriant tropical growth, recreating the environment of plants from every habitat. Kids go free but adults cost £12. Not far from Kew tube station on the district line. Its great most of the year round but in summer you will see the best.

It does have some indoor space so even in the wet or winter you can still get a good day out. Nice cafes and shop.

Centre Court Shopping Centre - Wimbledon

4 Queens Road, London SW19 8YE

15-11-2008

Centre Court Shopping Centre in Wimbledon has a good range of shops, based on a mid size debenhams. It has 3 levels with a food court on the top which has Macdonalds and pontis. The main ground floors and a good boots, tesco and m&S food only.

Its the main shopping area in wimbledon and is all under covering it has a few seating areas which people do eat lunch.

This centre court has nothing to do with tennis:-)

Slug and Lettuce - Wimbledon

Hartfield Road, Wimbledon, London SW19 3TA

15-11-2008

ok this is pub chain bar so not much different from most other slugs. Its just to be yates win lodge so big improvement. I am not sure I would say the food is very good and they do charge a high price.

Its fine for a quick dink but not a friday lunch time, food took a long time and was expensive.

Lots of pub /bars in the area so I would say for drink it`s ok but food not bother.

Bistro 1 - Covent Garden

33 Southampton Street, London WC2E 7HE

14-11-2008

The bistro is a great value place to eat in the west end, we have been many times over the years and have never had a bad meal. It’s based on set menu and you can have a one, two or three course meal based on a set menu. Its quite a mixed menu but I seem to always have the same things I can recommend mezze and kebabs as always good.
When you first sit down to get bread and olives (no charge) which is a nice touch. The staff are always friendly and you get a good atmosphere in said on all time that I have been

Nando's - Fulham

Fulham Road, Fulham, London SW6 1BY

14-11-2008

This Nandos is on the second floor of the fulham Broadway shopping centre right in the middle of a semi food court next to the cinema. Its based on 1 level and is not all that big compared to some other ones. Food is same as you would find as it’s a chain but have always had a positive experience. Its quite lively and not a place for a quiet date. Its a food place to take kids as we loud music they cant be to distracting and they might be in it was quiet. Staff are always good and service it pretty quick, then if you are going before a film you might need it.

Marks and Spencer - Kingston upon Thames

26 Clarence St, London KT1 1NU

14-11-2008

They have two big stores in Kingston Upon Thames one is a mens & home ware shop and the other larger store has all the rest. Great food selection and cafe in the main store. Lots of space and many different lines. Also has good card section and cheap prices.

The main store has all you might need and is a flagship store for them. The food section is one of the biggest I have been too and they get very busy at the weekend. The cafe is also good but at lunch or tea time the queues are sometimes very big

Harrods - Knightsbridge

87-135 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7XL

14-11-2008

wow what a store I would say it’s the best in London ok so it`s not cheap but the vast array of stuff they sell is second to none. You can spend a whole day just browsing so much to see good if its raining.

Ok it does get very busy and yes its a real tourists spot, but that is for good reason as you have nothing like this in London under one store. It’s a but flash but so much to see and the range of item you will not find all in one place. They also have very many cafes and restaurants on most floors all offering smoothing different. At Christmas they go a great grotto and now it free when you book in advance on the Internet
