As Waterstones go, the Camden Road branch is a bit of a let down. The carpet is dowdy and the selection of books uninspiring. However, this is Camden, so the Waterstone is a cultural oasis amid the fried chicken retailers and the scariest Post Office that I have ever visited. It’s a shame about all the drug addicts and mentally ill people in Camden. The good thing about a book store is that most of the them would never think of going inside one. Therefore, if you’re looking to escape the living hell of the high street during a weekday lunchtime, there is nowhere better than Waterstones.

Described to me by an Egyptian as London’s best Arab restaurant. She’s probably right. I like the food so much that I’ve bought the book. Unfortunately, my attempts to make foul medames at home have been less successful than I had hoped so I will have to continue coming to Le Mignon for both takeaways and sit-down meals. For a takeaway lunch, which far too few people seem to take advantage of, I recommend the falafel. If you want to take a seat, a selection of fatoush, hummus (compulsory) and tabouleh will see you right. I had some hard foul medames here once, but apart from that it’s a great restaurant.
