I like this salon, the girls I’ve had treatments with are always nice, it’s comfortable and the girls always put you at ease.
The only problem I’ve had is with the girls who are working on the reception. They are often too busy chatting to one another to really pay attention to what they are doing/saying to customers.
Also, I bought my pregnant sister a voucher for a pregnancy massage. When she decided to use it, she booked an appointment and when she arrived for it there was no one there to do it as they had mixed up booking times. She had saved it until late in her pregnancy so didn’t have time to book in again (she doesn’t live in Edinburgh).
However, the salon were very good and said she could use the voucher to buy products or to book a treatment after the baby is born.

I had my hair cut here once, never again!
I chose Charlie Miller because they had a good reputation amoung friends and I wanted to get a nice hair cut for a wedding I was going to abroad.
Although I explained to the stylist what I wanted, she didn’t seem to take it on board at all! She seemed to ignore what would actually suit me and the shape of my face, I looked rediculous after she had finished drying my hair, and tied it back as soon as I left the salon, heading straight home to wash it. It wasn’t cheap either.
Maybe it was just a one off bad experience, but I wouldn’t risk it again. The only reason I’ve give 2 stars is because I do have friends who go regularly and have never had a problem.

Have had my hair cut here twice - both times I booked a 'standby’ appointment, which they advertise as £25, but when I got to pay they tried to charge me the full price.
Hair cut wasn’t bad, although the hair dresser certainly didn’t try to make me feel at ease, she barely said a word while I was there!
Don’t think I’ll be going back - I felt it was over priced for the quality of hair cut I got.
The Pilates Place - Edinburgh

There are 2 instructors at The Pilates Place, Ellie and Linda, and I take a class with Ellie every week.
I have been going for 6 months, and during that time the classes have been excellent. The class is small and Ellie always takes time to ensure each member is doing things correctly in a gentle and helpful manner. I have some health problems and Ellie can always find the time to make sure the exercises are suitable for me. She takes a genuine interest in each person and always keeps the classes relaxed.
They are very accommodating if you miss a class, and more importantly NEVER make you feel bad about missing a class!
I think everyone in the class has recommended the Pilates Place to friends!
Central Lending Library - Edinburgh

Have never used the main lending library here but used the reference library a lot when at Uni.
The reference library is a fantastic place to study - it is quiet, no distractions and you feel you can stay there all day gathering books up to read and take notes from. They have good history books which I found difficult to source elsewhere. A good referencing system so books are easy to find and it's likely that if you find one, you'll end up finding a good few other relevent ones in the same section that you didn't know about but are really helpful.
Staff have always been helpful, both in the library and over the phone. The edinburgh libraries website is good for checking if they have a book available. Here's a link:

A lovely little library, staff are always pleasant and more than happy to help.
Have taken groups of kids in before, they have a wonderful children’s area with a great selection of books and no one bats an eyelid when the kids can’t/don’t want to stay quiet! Always very understanding if one of the children’s books taken out has a small tear or someone has tried to chew the corner! : ) I think they don’t charge late fees on children’s books either, although I am open to correction on that one!

I love Caoba, always head there if I need to buy a card.
They have some really nice jewellery and fantastic glassware which I think is recycled?
Have bought friends and family small gifts from here and they always love them!
Always great to have a look around if you’re passing, although I always end up buying something!

Love walking along from Cannonmills/Inverleith through Stockbridge and past the Dean Village to the Galleries.
A beautiful walk and much quicker than if you were to follow the roads. Often bring family who are visiting Edinburgh a walk along here on a sunny afternoon.
Ping On Chinese Restaurant - Edinburgh

This restaurant’s take away service was recommended to me by a friend, I was so disappointed when the meal we had was awful! The chicken tasted like it was off and the sauce on my partner’s dish was like jelly!
Wouldn’t go back, wouldn’t recommend.
Family Circle Recruitment - Edinburgh

I have worked with Family Circle in the past and found them great.
I worked as a nursery nurse and babysitter. Although you could get better pay elsewhere, it was good experience and a good way to get in to Nursery work. I was offered a job by the first nursery Family Circle sent me to!
They always paid on time and any other staff I met from the agency were great girls who clearly loved working with children.
I believe they also do a 'home help’ type of service for the elderly - a lady on my street uses this and has told me in the past she usually has lovely girls come to help her.
Overall I had a very positive experience with Family Circle.
