Great post-George & Dragon venue. Drinks are incongruously expensive given that they clearly don’t spend any of their revenue on the decor but when it’s busy you won’t care. More of a muscle Mary crowd than George and Dragon though still plenty of Hoxtonites braving deepest darkest Hackney.

Big fun, big gays, big facial hair. Slightly malodorous, slightly scuzzy but more than made up for by the eclectic mix of people and decor. The closest you can get to a bizarre, gayish 80s parallel universe that never happened.

RIP Boombox. Still a great place for daytime drinking and ogling the riff raff in Hoxton Square. Not the best service ever but then it wouldn’t quite be Hoxton if it were.

One of the best bars in Shoreditch. Certainly the best bar-cum-exhibition space: each Monday the art adorning the walls changes giving you a new slice of the east end arts scene each week. Quietish during the day and great for food. Busy on weeknights and weekends with a massive smoking contingent outside.

This place has some bizarre gravitational pull. Always seem to end up here, only half-ironically. The best of the G A Y franchise. Cheap and fun and occasionally pretty.

One of Vauxhall’s - nay, the UK’s - best gay clubs with four rooms with state of the art lighting and sound and big-name DJs playing uplifting funky house and electro house. Security is tight and the club has a mainly gay door policy. A place of epic nights which can last for days…

Easily the best bar in Altrincham (which isn’t solely because of the relative paucity of decent bars in the area). Great staff and great cocktails are a winning combination.
