Chepstow Castle - Chepstow

Well worth £4! Amazing views over the river from the battlements, and great plans of the original room usages and information about which bits were built when. The bedroom bit is particularly awesome!

Really fantastic rooms and facilities – tennis courts, pool, gym, game room, lovely restaurants (two types) and great staff. I had afternoon tea as room service! Amazing. Food all really quite good value for the quality!
Very pretty place, gardens and things, pet-friendly rooms available (there are garden rooms which are like little cottages).
The only let-down was the continental breakfast – not much choice at all (although the croissants were lovely and fresh/warm) and just lacking in thought – the only bowls available were massive ones (not great since there were cereal boxes and yoghurt that you would naturally take a small bowl for!) and there were a bunch of juices in jugs but no water! Annoying thing to have to ask for. All tea/coffee/toast on request though :-)
However the cooked food was fantastic and their ingredients are all locally sourced/free range etc.
Would definitely recommend and may well go back (even though it’s right on the edge of the country and soooo far away!)

Great size, great facilities – accessible and useful!
Watch out for masses of kids if you go on a Sunday, but with great openin hours you may not need to. Thumbs up for the cafe and Swedish-food market too!

Very good food (although perhaps not quite worth the price), but service not great (they’re always packed with customers but not particularly attentive, you have to work to get the waiters’ attention!)
Oh, and there’s a LOT of garlic going on. If you hate garlic, avoid this place!

Stunning food, understandable high-end prices.
Fittingly posh insides.
£25 three course menu for Sunday lunch, all superb!

Definitely worth a visit! Total novelty, very fun, you’re very looked after and entertained and the vodka is great too – then you have the fun of eating the glass once you’ve had the drink! ;-)
Great opportunity for silly photos in silver suits!
Agua Hair & Beauty - Balham

Really fab service – my hairdresser Mark really cared about getting the colour of my hair right and advising me on what would work best – he even offered to add darker colour for free after the colour he added didn’t come out dark enough for his taste! I’d been wanting to go blonde eventually so he took a cutting to test bleach on it and rang me an hour later to tell me what had happened and what I should do next.
The salon is lovely and the wash basin chairs have a massage machine built in! Very nice surprise…
There are other beauty services downstairs such as waxing and ever lasering.
My last (local) hairdresser was rubbish so having discovered this place via a Groupon offer I’ll definitely make the short tube journey to go there again!
Furzefield Centre - Potters Bar

I’ve used the pool – it’s a good size, with diving facilities.
A little over-priced for non-members.
The Serpentine Lido - Hyde Park

Swimming in the Serpentine is an experience!
There are changing rooms and lockers and well, a lido.
Good luck if you can face the chilly English waters!
I thought it was fun :-)
