Bettys Cafe - Harrogate
1 Parliament Street, Harrogate, North Yorkshire HG1 2QU

I was looking for a cream tea the English style. Sorry to say, but the tea served over at Bettys is a plain low quality grass infusion with no aroma at all. No luck on the scone side: mediocre with salted butter spread. The main feeling from the whole "tea ceremony": not a trace of style and quality. I think that being a tourist attraction, Horrogate is overly tolerant to the low quality of overpriced local "BUZZ" places.

Ya, leave behind a wishful thinking about pleasant treat in the midst of a city. Trendy interior does not add taste to greasy, hastily prepared meals with far too much egg in all vegetarian part of it. Oils used for frying taste like they are reused quite heavily. At the price charged you can expect at least some fresh peanut oil to be spared per order.
Miso is really salty!!! Coriander rice tastes fried egg and grease, not a scent of spice.
Don't expect much from Pad Thai: nothing of a classical spice combination. Vegetarian sushi are simply too raw (it's not fun to try to chew raw eggplant, believe me).
Sorry to say, but our family evening party was ruined because of so poorly prepared meal. We did not get the value for our money.

Average, overpriced for the quality offered. It would be OK for an office cafeteria, but to call it a restaurant: exaggeration!
Veggies are so undercooked, that woody bock Choy must be totally avoided, vegetarian sushi are boring and too hard for a bite. Tempura is not crisp, but rather heavy.
Good thing is no MSG in dishes. So, it is safe to eat with children. But tastes are far from impressive.

This French white “table closed“ resto allows itself to serve Messmer teabags at 2 EURO! What can be said beyond it? Real Lux! Guys, pass by and don’t waist your hopes… What it means? Octopus cooked to leather sole density and dry fried frog legs with salad leaves swimming in butter.
It’s hard, real hard to be good… And expensive too…
Eisbach Bar & Küche - Altstadt

Very mediocre place! Waiters are impatient and hasty. Food is a real goof! Duck was really “bad done”, meaning - dried past the well done stage almost till shoe sole density. Stir fry problem (charcoaled onions and shitake mushrooms, wilted bock Choy in pessimistic brownish liquid) was quickly fixed with a mount of deep fried onions as a décor. Sorry, doesn’t cover the problem, try again! If you are apt to have some salad: you might try it, but fine cooking doesn’t go beyond it. Fish might come totally undone or overcooked. Let say, experiment at your expense if you want.

Wow, people have to have understanding for what a Greek means! It means leisure time perpetually! Food cooks itself; waiters are swift and relaxed at the same time. Come on, you are at their disposition, better be on the same wavelength. We’ve been with a child and early in the day. So, service was quite fast. Tuna came pretty soft and juicy, with wonderfully roasted veggies. Briam (personal favorite) has been overly dried (a week earlier it tasted better), appetizers were fine. As for me: portions are really large. So, don’t say that it’s expensive! My daughter liked it too over there. Bring your family! It’s a good family eating out before the evening crowd gathered at the entrance (before 8 pm).

Really pleasant place to eat out! Reference to the beloved Japanese movie creates the atmosphere of familiarity and makes you apt to try the famous noodle soup. Sushi part is represented vastly, more then traditional cuisine. Prices are moderate, service is attentive and understanding the needs of clients. We’ve been with a very active 5year old: no problems. Definitely recommend to visit!

Yah, real family place with some rather unkept appearance of kitchen staff and sincere remarks from cooks. By the way, restaurant is not kosher at all. My only and last visit to them resulted in unpleasant aftertaste and stomachache. Sorry, quality of the food doesn’t stretch further then French fries and overcooked meat (with the prices far above MkDonalds). Not surprising, since cooks got their training in cafeterias of former Eastern block. I have to rate them with one star (just to participate in rating).
rovf As for the quality, I can only say that I liked it, but then I must admit that, although I know quite a few Lebanon/Arabic places, I’m not a specialist on Jewish cooking – so maybe you know this better than I do.
I’m just surprised that you complain the lack of kosher cooking. Their homepage clearly says: “Our own orientation is not strictly kosher, but we can offer you kosher meals through our catering service and within our restaurant from 10 persons upwards.” Is it that you explicitly order kosher food, but didn’t get it? When I asked, I was told that most beverage (such as wine) is kosher, but food is not.

Remarkable service! I had a particular order (not in the menu) and it was correctly cooked. This attention to details is worth the highest praise. Definite recommendation for lunch and a quick snack. Not a family place to go (very tight spacing).

Very pleasant place to visit. Food is carefully cooked, salad is really fine. Some vegetarian choices are present and are tasty! Roasted duck was exquisite! I will recommend it definitely. Personal is really working for you (child friendly too). Some improvements could be done for ventilation of smoke (non smokers are exposed, although are separated).
