seems a real shame to see a churlish review of this shop here as the woman who does the cooking is exceptionally friendly and a superb cook too. she really radiates warmth. there are very few places like this in london, if any. it's a real treasure.

Rudest shop owners I have ever encountered, shows no respect for their customers and some of the fruit and veg are not fresh, cabbages with rotten bottom? If I can give it a -5 I honestly would.

Well i dont know what shop you went into but it was’ent yasar food market !
I have being going to this lovely little market for 15 years now and i know plenty of other people who use it as well, never have i come across the owners being rude, they have always been very helpful and freindly, and may i add they have been the same owners since it has opened,so i think they know how to act to their customers. The only thing i can think of is you were very rude yourself and done something very offensive to them! they have the best meze’s/pesto’s/olives/stuffed peppers/borek’s and so much mor i have ever tasted and i have been to plenty of turkish resturant’s,and their fruite and veg is always of a high quality and standard. Maybe you should try going back and be a bit more polite and respectful.

Well, I was NOT rude or offensive towards them at all.Its odd that you assumed I was being rude, but I trust you’ve had wonderful past experiences with them as I can see you’ve left raving reviews. However, that was not the case for me. Maybe they had a bad day, or was effected by something else, but it dosen’t change the fact that my experience was terrible.I do believe they make very good food as the roasted aubergine looked oh so yummy.
It was the first and last time I’ve been, perhaps most of days they are pretty friendly people. But I’ve not been back and nor am I planning to.
oh, and about the cabbages with rotten bottoms, I didn’t make that bit up either, I was trying to find a good one amongst them but failed.

Helvetica, this shop has been running for over twenty years. Let me inform you if they were rude shop keepers they would not be trading successfully for this time. Nor would they be in a position to retain a long standing committed customer base within the Caledonian Rd area and afar. If Moskat has made the assumption that you may have been rude or offensive to the shop owners, it is reflective of the loyal customers and members of the community that frequent this shop regularly. As customers, we have had only pleasant experiences from the shop owners and would be reluctant to even entertain the fact that your one experience is relective of the overall experience of trading with these shop keepers for over 15 years.

Well, look here, let me reiterate I’m just sharing my own experience, after all this is a platform for everyone to share their experience and reviews right? If my experience was good then I wouldn’t be here complaining in the first place.
I’m glad you guys have had nice experience there and are loyal customers. It is conveniently located, saves trekking up to angel, but not all of us are converted.

Yasar food market, 319 Caledonian Road
The best hand made pesto, humus, borek etc, all fresh seasonal vegetables and fruit. Organic produce available, the customer servce is exceptional. Ask to taste items at the deli counter and you will be amazed at how delicious everything tastes as it is all home made. The Baba Ganoush takes two days to prepare. It is a little diamond of a shop in the cabbage patch of Caledonian Road. Everything is very resonably priced considering it is all fresh

Very friendly little place, with a surprising range of foods. Some home made food as well. Run by a warm and friendly family. Try the stuffed peppers
