First time I've been there and it was wonderful! It's small, but cozy, and the unique decor really adds to the atmosphere. It makes you feel like you've been transported to a Caribbean island paradise! The service was very friendly, the music and lighting relaxing, and the food was delicious! So many combined flavors and the chips were handmade-perfect! If you're looking for a new experience, then I definitely recommend the Roatan.

One of my favorite restaurants in Hamburg! It has it all - friendly service, unique and tasty fresh food (jerk chicken, fresh fish, etc.), exotic cocktails (with tropical fruit juices or chili syrup), a bit eccentric decorations ("Caribbean kitsch", with lots of colors and fish), fun atmosphere, and some nice Caribbean music in the background.

Have been there several times and always enjoy the flavors (esp. the mixed appetizer plate)! Has a small kitchen, so bring some time with you if you decide to go on the weekends - everything is made fresh, so it might take a while. A nice place to go out to experience something different.

Roatan is one-of-a-kind! An authentic blend of Latin and Caribbean cuisine, prepared by a knowledgeable chef and owner, who hails from the tiny island of Roatan. The decoration is all hand-made and makes you feel like you are really sitting in the Islands, a blend of tropical lights, an underwater television feed and hand-made fish paper mache. The cocktails are also wonderful (go for the classic pina colada - I've never had better). But really it's the food that makes it so special. It is perhaps the only place in Europe to get real Latin food (yuca, tostones, plantains), but also authentic Caribbean jerk chicken! Do not miss this place. Truly unique.

That was my first time and I ve been suggested by one of my friends ,I loved the Food. that was so delicious and special.Also I wanted to see the kitchen and they let me to do! it was so kind ..

Although I had only been to the previous spots of “Roatan” (Großneumarkt and Osterstrasse) I always liked it.
The interior (including the toilets) was decorated in such creative and loving way that it nearly made my heart melt.
Back then it made you feel as if sitting right in a green jungle.
The food itself is quite exquisite and special (in a positive way).
I wouldn’t know any other restaurant that does nearly the same. Very nice Caribbean/Creole meals with loads of interesting spices and decoration. Meat, fish, veggie things… they are all on offer there.

I don’t know if the menu itself still has the form of a small shell… quite sweet and unusual. (Would have been a nice souvenir… ... ...)

And so far I hadn’t been disappointed in their food - and neither have my fellow eaters.
Service is quick and friendly. Always happy to give advice about meals and their contents.
Prices are moderate and definitely appropriate.

What a mediocre place! There was absolutely nothing that caught my attention, when I could have said to myself 'well done’ or 'that was interesting’. Kitschy tropical fish wallpaper (believe me colours couldn’t be any brighter), same frightening tablecloth. I couldn’t help but thinking, that I was in the middle of filming 'Finding Nemo’ (would I be Dory?). Overage coctails, cold food… To be fair I have to say that service was very very friendly. That’s about it.

This is one of our friend’s favorite restaurant in Hamburg. The Mexican and I checked it out on a mid-day evening and I was truthfully blown-away by the red snapper in a sweet and hot chutney. Best fish I had in Hamburg--and that’s saying something. The atmosphere at night is dark, light be candles and aquariums--but still festive. Good Latin music and over all a place more for classy sippy-drinks then a beer.
