For greek and Cypriot food, head to this unassuming restaurant in Blackheath. The décor is definitely in keeping with the name, old Taverna style run by a Cypriot family. The menu is large, though not good for allergy sufferers and only two dishes for vegetarians. The service is friendly, though the language barrier is apparent when attempting to modify dishes. There is live music twice a week that isn’t for the faint hearted as it’s difficult to have a conversation with friends and the musicians will attempt to persuade you to dance! If you’ve never tried this sort of food before, it’s worth a visit, but if you have any dietary requirements you may struggle as sauces are pre-prepared.
