i have also had their dry beef egg noodles, which was rather yummy. their service is pretty good most of the time but sometimes it takes a while to attract a waiters attention because they are so busy.
Me and my dad went to Cafe De Hong Kong today for the first time. I had seen it lots of times but never really payed attention to it until today. My dad chose the vegetarian curry (vegetarian food was very limited like some people have said) and I chose noodles with chicken (I forgot what it was called on the menu) with some kind of strawberry drink with the jellyish balls in it. The drink looked super cute but it tasted a bit watery and kind of tasteless but I guess you could still taste some strawberry in it. What I ordered was super nice and my dad reaaaaally liked what he ordered too (vegetarian curry apparently is very spicy though). We got our food quick, decent surroundings, average workers etc it’s a really nice place and we want to come back again. :)

After a horrible main meal at another resturant (see my other review today) our group retired to the Hong Kong Cafe for drinks and dessert.
As usual the place doesn’t disapoint. It’s cheap, clean and has the most extensive taro/pearl drink list. It’s also the place where you can get Horlicks and Ovaltine on a restaurant menu, (big things in China!).
But in the end, you get what you pay for which is fast food, in cheap surroundings. It’s all good though, because at least you know that when you walk in the door, rather than at other restaurants!
The manager? came over to our table and chatted for 10minutes even though we didn’t spend much. Nice guy and made the place very friendly. Happy to take people here for an experience, or to grab quick food to go anytime.

Had visited this establishment in the past and found it superb good food cheap. My last visit was very disappointing looked the same but smaller menu and smaller portions. I ordered special fried rice and it was anything but a few minute prawns and some diced ham lots of peas but no taste and costly. The drinks were expensive even for Central London. The total bill for three one course and a drink each would have got us at least two courses and a drink in more elegant surroundings. Service was not very good either

I agree with ahunter.
Great value for money, and the noodles are amazing!
I do recommend the Yakisoba noodle dishes. Those chunky noodles are my favourite. Their prawn toast is actually very very good too.
If you order tea, do watch out, as it comes in a glass (with no handle) and it’s very very hot!

Decent, cheap and and tasty. I’d recommend the fried rice with shredded chicken. It’s £5.50 and it could easily feed 2 people! Watch out for the chilli sauce, it’s seriously spicy.
Nothing else to add really. There isn’t really anything that sets Cafe De Hong Kong apart from the rest of the Chinese restaurants in China Town, but if you’re on a budget and want something fast and tasty, this is a good bet.

All the usual suspects are served up in a hurry at this cheap Chinese multi-level restaurant right on Charing Cross Road and very convenient to Leicester Square. They also do bubble and milk teas for 3-4quid but they recently stopped serving the taro flavour and so I haven’t been since. They had me in their clutches and somehow just let go…

Cheap & cheerful. Does the job. The place has great noodle soups with dumplings and nice teas.
