It's wonderful there! I used to work on the ms Europa. We passed through this Fjord. The water there is as deep as the mountains are high. We were in this Fjord and watched the marvellous country side. And then an exercise - into the rescue boats. We were let low and went through the Fjord. A absolutely marvellous experience!!!

So, i continue my travel diary of Northern Europe. And here it is- the fjord. Vertical sides, black water (400m deep) and a grey, green mountain, if you have a blue sky, it's su-perb! The narrowness of the fjord and it's shape make it a gem, whether you are in a car and arriving by the high road, or in a boat between the sides, near the waterfall. Quite simply, any tour of Norway MUST include the geirangerfjord. The downside: the cruise companies know about it, that it is beautiful, and so if you do arrive on the day there is a large, white boat full of french people, it's a little annoying. Especially for the photos.
