I agree – when I arrived the woman there was very rude to me about cancelling the nail appointment I had made as I had been given the impression that they were for extensions. Instead, they were a nail treatment for £40, which I was almost made to pay since I had made the appointment and turned up. My complaint about misinformation was met with astonishing defensiveness and rudeness.

Definitely would not recommend this dump of a place to anyone who wants a decent haircut. The place is a dump - hair all over the floor, lights hanging off walls, hairdressers just standing around talking amongst themselves not bothered whether there is a customer waiting.
The owner needs to visit other hair salons around Oxford town centre to get a vague idea of what a 'decent' salons looks like and ie. up to date decor, lights hanging ON as opposed to OFF walls, hairdressers who know how to do their job.........the list is quite endless.
Overall if you want to waste your hard earned money go to Strand - they'll take of that.

Very unprofessional - staff doing their own hair while I waited, no care taken over my cut (very quick and no checking over, or asking what I actually wanted), no effort to be friendly, I had to tell her that my cut was uneven and she adjusted it whilst we were standing by the till, as if she wanted me to be out of there quickly. She tried to over-charge me until I pointed out the advertised price. Asked me to go get cash out and then I had to wait while she got change from the bank. Not a good experience.

I went into strand as I had let my sister dye my hair, and it had gone a yellowish colour, and I was hoping they would be able to re-dye it to a colour that was more natural to me. I did ask for a colour that was closest to my natural colour, a dark blonde, but instead came out of the chair with almost bleached white hair because the hairdresser 'thought it would look good'.This wasn't what I asked for AT ALL and had completely ruined my hair. On top of this they had the cheek to charge me what I thought was a ridiculous price for somewhere I presumed to be a middle-priced salon. I ended up forking out much more money on then getting my ruined hair fixed at a much more expensive salon. Wish I'd never looked them up.

My fourth visit and I absolutely loved it. Alison cuts my hair. Not only is she a really lovely lady she is a fantastic stylist - she cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. I felt like a million dollars when I walked out of the shop, which hasn't happened for a long, long time. I would highly recommend this salon, as all staff were all really friendly definitely going back.
I have been looking for a good hairdresser for ages and now Ive found her .

Visited the salon a couple of weeks ago and felt I should write a review about the service and unprofessionalism of the staff.
I gave my name to the receptionist and was told to take a seat - which I quite happily did. There was already a customer waiting yet there were several unoccupied chairs and staff just wondering around talking amongst themselves.
I asked the lady already waiting how long she'd been there to which she replied 10-15 mins. As she said that she was called over.
After waiting 5-10 mins I was called over.
I had my hair shampooed and then took a seat for the hairdressing experience of a lifetime.
The lady started on my hair. From the word go the whole experience was a disaster. Whilst cutting several staff members kept approaching her with personal issues which she had more of an interest in.
She then disappeared after saying I'll be back. She then returned smelling like an ashtray so had obviously been for a cigarette.
After several delays my hair was finally cut. Then came along the drying which was just as hideous - I finished up with quite a bee hive!!!!
I would never recommend this salon unless you want hairdressers that are talking amongst themselves, smell of cigarettes and probably have stained fingers, breath cigarette breathe all over your face (don't appreciate this as I'm an asthma sufferer), no professionalism at all.
Don't part with your money for an overpriced hair experience at the hands of amateurs.

I'll preface this by admitting that the haircut I received was fine (if hideously overpriced). However, my overall experience was incredibly unpleasant. I went in for a simple trim and general tidy-up, so I can't comment on anything more complex than that.
My initial impressions were ok: although I was kept waiting for 10-15 minutes, I was offered a complimentary coffee. I wasn't in any particular rush so I thought fair enough, we all run a little late sometimes. My hair was washed by an either very shy or very bored young woman who made awkward conversation with me. Again, no big deal really, I don't go to these places for the conversation anyway, and she was at least very polite.
It all went downhill with my stylist. Saleem rabbited on and on talking about himself and telling "funny" stories, generally joking about with the other members of staff while I just sat there. As I've said, there were no problems with his hairdressing skills, but his attitude towards me was dreadful. Completely unsolicited, he insulted my hair colour (which I happen to like) and told me to strip it out, as well as my style (I'm really not into styling my hair, I think it looks fine the way it is), basically saying that it looked like I made no effort with myself, was unattractive and even that I needed to do it differently otherwise my boyfriend would leave me! This was particularly ironic given that he'd revealed earlier that he himself shaves his head to make life easier... He also continually commented on my hair's fineness in a pretty aggressive manner, constantly saying how it was "too" thin- hardly my fault! Bear in mind that I had at no point asked for advice concerning colour or style and had made it clear several times that I'm not interested in that sort of thing. I left feeling insulted and self-conscious, not to mention ripped off. Definitely one to avoid.

Hmm where do I start. It's a small place run by one guy who had a dream but nobody wanted to join in. The man is really nice and understands what I want and pushes me to try new things and I am pleased with the results. There's a young blonde girl working there and her head massages are the best! Also she quite attractive, bit gutted I didn't get her today though :( good prices 17.50 for a wash and cut. I am very fussy about my hair and trust this guy fully. Recommend this place if you're male, not too sure about females.

I have come to this salon twice, once in Dec '11 and today. My boyfriend also received a cut there in January '12. I do not have any specific complaints concerning the women's haircuts - they didn't do a fantastic job but I have very damaged hair and cannot blame these people for not performing miracles. My boyfriend's cut was way too short - he gave precise instructions and the girl did not seem to listen or pay much attention to his description. I do however have a VERY big problem with the other services provided by this salon. This place not only offers haircuts but also inside there is an alcove with three punjabi ladies that carry out threading and eyelash/eyebrow tinting. The first of all told me to wait 5 minutes (which turned out to be 40minutes) to get my place and no reservations seemed to be possible for me or other clients but other Indian-looking ladies passed through the door and went directly in. Once I spoke the person carrying out the treatment, two of them began the threading (4£) which is quite PAINFUL. They then proceeded to apply vaseline to avoid the tint applying to the skin. I tried to interject to say that I felt a strong burning sensation - but they had already smeared all the substances (Tint was 8£). I also tried to point out that the dye was being applied for too long and it was burning. The ladies completely ignored me and continued to speak to each other in their language (which they mentioned was Punjabi). As I have light skin, I specifically requested that the tint be "natural-colored". After an over 10 minute dye application I realised that my eyebrows not only look like those of the Star Trek character Spock (way too wide and extremely straight) but also PITCH BLACK. Thank you again Strand and the Punjabi ladies with their eyebrow salon - thanks for nothing - no way I will ever return!!!!

I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND this place! The staff is unprofessional and unreliable. In less than one year, two hairdressers who made my hair quit jobs. I have not got any advance notice, despite the fact that I asked for a specific person making an appointment. Furthermore, a new person who made my hair last time did something wrong: my hair colour look uneven. When I asked for explanation, I was treated with unprecedented rudeness. Very-very disappointing!!!

Staff are polite and I would recommend Rob to anyone that has / wants highlights. I have been going here for about 2 years now and he does my hair exactly the way I like it!
I made the mistake of purchasing a Groupon voucher for a highly recommended hairdresser in Summertown and they completely ruined my colour – had to go back to have it re-done and it was still ginger! Very upsetting. Thankfully Rob was able to fix it on my next visit to him.

Awful place with an incredibly rude, obnoxious and arrogant hairdresser who insists on making every updo looks like Marie Antoinette's. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Truly disappointing.
