Urban Monifieth

Just had another lovely cut from Greg!  Thank you for sorting out a disasterous cut I had recently in Glasgow.  In future I won't be going anywhere else!  Why would I, now that I have found a great stylist, handy salon with relaxing surroundings, decent prices with the offer of a glass of wine thrown in!  :-)

Very particular about who does my hair as had some bad experiences, so when I was looking for a new hairdresser I did my research and saw the reviews for Urban.  I am very pleased to report that it lived up to every good report it has had.  A very nice local hairdresser with staff that make you feel special and treat you like a VIP.  I got a half head of highlights with a cut and finish with Pamela and I love it!!  Will definitely be back

I was lucky enough to have bought a Groupon voucher for a Shellac manicure and a wash, cut and blowdry, which was with Claire. Straight away I felt at ease in the salon - it's definitely NOT one of those pretentious snobby salons where you are just another customer! I am quite fussy when it comes to my hair (lets face it, who isn't!) and hadn't had it cut in over a year - but straight away I knew i'd be happy with the result as Claire listened to everything I wanted and didn't just chop away to her hearts content, like i've experienced in other places. Even though I live in rural Perthshire, I would most definitely make the trip back through to Monifieth to know that i'm going to be happy with the result!

I am very picky when it comes to getting my hair cut as in the past I’ve had some disasterous times where hairdressers have not listened at all to what I’ve asked them to do. Claire at Urban always does exactly what I want done with my hair and if she has any suggestions always talks about them first rather than chopping away like other hairdressers I’ve had. I wouldn’t think about going anywhere else after the all the great cuts I’ve had at Urban and the prices are excellent too compared to other Dundee hairdressers; usually I’m around £55 for a cut and colour where before I would have paid around £90 and left feeling misrable!

I first went to this salon in July last year and have gone through two hair transformations. Firstly, dark hair with a gradual build of highlights and today I went back to a rich chocolate brown. Greg has been my stylist and he has been absolutely brilliant every time I have been. Supportive of my decisions but also gave advice and answered any questions I had, no matter how daft they were! I felt comfortable enough to direct Greg to the exact cut I wanted which he listened to and did what I wanted. The salon has a relaxed atmosphere but is also fun with a bit of background music. The stylists are happy to chat but also if you just want to sit back and relax whilst you are pampered that is fine too. Go to this salon..You won’t regret it!

My last visit to Urban was a few days ago and I’ve been a regular since visiting for the first time in April this year. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly and the salon is both stylish and relaxing. Kathleen made a great job of my hair and I’d recommend it to anyone in the area.

I have been going to Urban Monifieth since it changed hands. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. I am offered a beer everytime I go to get my hair cut.
I would recommend Urban to people of all ages. I have also added them on Facebook where they promote special offers, which is great for students like myself.

I have been using Urban for a while now since it changed ownership and can honestly say, it is a fab place! The staff are friendly and the salon is inviting, modern and very stylish.

I have found all the staff to be very friendly and have personally had my hair cut & coloured by Mark (the owner), Claire and Pamela and they all did a great job. The staff take time to discuss your hair needs and offer advice if you are a bit undecided.

I recommend them to all my friends and now to all you readers.........give them a try!

Friendly staff and happy to help out with your hair needs. Wine was offered which was fab but sadly i was driving! Great looking place and felt relaxed. Definetly go back time after time !! recommend to everyone

Been salon a good few times now... cant fault it hence my return. Have had both Claire and Pamela do my hair and are both fab. Highly recommmended, staff are all friendly, sure to come out feeling a millions dollars.

I started using Urban Monifieth when re loacating meant time for new hair salon, driving past it daily i did wonder if maybe for the older clientel however booked my appointment with Claire and have never looked back.
The atmosphere as mentioned before is very relaxed and the music is good, the stylists all work well together and are really friendly.
Again as mentioned before, the offer of glass of wine whilst pampering ones self was very un expected and refreshing.

The salon looks great now since the revamp and the glass of wine was a really nice touch. Kenneth cut and coloured my hair and i'm so pleased with it, so many people have complemented me on it since, I'll definitely be going back.

The salon has been in the Monifieth for years but I have always walked past as it looked like an old persons place. It seems that it has recently changed hands and undergone a complete overhaul. I decided to try it as they have a massive advert outside on the pavement offering a discount on your first visit and it was still open after 6pm when I got back form work.

They've made a good job of doing it up and they even have an i-pod playing music from wireless speakers! Better than my house.

Anyway, my hair was cut by Jan who apparently used to work at Toni & Guy. She was nice and friendly but the highight for me was being offered a free beer. First time in Monifieth!

Jan obviously knew what she was doing and my cut was certainly a step up from the usual barbers job. She even rinsed it after cutting so I wasn't covered in hair all night.

Defo worth a visit and a welcome addition to the High Street.
