Ordered taxi at 12.20 for 1, plenty of notice. Taxi was 10 mins late. Taxi driver didn't apologise and couldn't have cared less. Car stank of cigarette smoke

I use Sure Cars all the time and find them friendly, reliable and a lot cheaper than other cab companies. The drivers are always very helpful and polite and the staff manning the phones are too.

My husband is in a wheelchair and they are always keen to help us in anyway they can. They know us well because we use them a lot and the Blind Lady Incident, whilst unfortunate, is an isolated incident. As stated before, my husband is disabled and Sure cars are nothing but helpful regarding this.

These cab service staffs are generally rude; I never had to deal with a bad experience a bad from any cab firms till today. When I got picked up by the cab from my departure, there was an issue of how much the journey was going to cost. I called the cab office to make sure how much it would be beforehand. 5 minutes into the journey everything was perfect fine till the cab driver car broke down, I understand that no one would like to experience that so I was just being patient with the driver. He tried to do everything to fix the car even run to a garage to get petrol to fill the tank.  After waiting over 15 min, I had to take the matter into my own hands and get in contact with the firm. I asked the driver for the office number and he made an excuse trying not to give me the number. At that point I thought this situation was wrong, when I finally got through to the women in the office she apologize for the situation, the inconveniences and for me to inform them for the car to be broken down, when the cab driver should have informed them first. Due to the car broke down they will send me a replacement car and will only reduce on £1 of my fare. I thought they were joking at first but they were actually serious. I got in the replacement car and the driver still wanted to charge me full price, so I had to call the cab office again and explain to them that they put me inconvenience situation and was unfair to charge me that amount. I felt with the effort that was made my journey should be at least half the amount. They wanted to challenge me over the phone this time for the previous service I have booked with them, even though I cancelled the service before the car turned up any were near the house. At that point I just notice that this firm was just interested more in my money and did not care if I got to my final destination. The person on the other phone last words to me was: we are just going in circles right now and I do not care do whatever you want to do. I got off the phone and cab driver started argument with me, because he was not going to get paid for this journey. He went on further saying why are you calling the office to reduce the fare. At that point I felt that he was threat to me and had to get out of the car to feel safe.

For many, many years I have had an excellent service from Sure Cars, The incident that is described is obviously very serious indeed, but it does not reflect on the whole company. What reflects on the whole company is how they have dealt with such an issue. I am sure that a driver like that would be sacked, but I do not know that this is the case. An example of great service that I had was when I telephoned them up at around midnight in deperate need of medication, I asked them to locate an all-night chemist. They got me the medication and I was extremely grateful, Andy.

I agree with all the comments that have been made about the issue of the blind lady, however, it only takes one person (Driver) to give a company a bad name.  I have had a very good service from Sure Cars in the past and present.  So maybe some Thank You's should be said for the other drivers.

Allegations of abuse by a driver toward a disabled person as described in todays Independant and other papers, should be properly investigated. A reputable company would suspend the driver while the investigation takes place, listen to their customer as well as their driver, and, when all the facts are known, take suitable disciplinary/licencing action as appropriate . By pretending this has not happened ("this is a misunderstanding" says the company) the company sends out a clear message to disabled people; 'We don't care about you or how you experience our service'.  This is just the worst way of dealing with an issue of trust and potential customers, whether disabled or not, should draw their own conclusions.

My experience is not so bad as blind Lisa Medgett, described in The Independent on 31 October, but it's pretty bad. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/blind-woman-abandoned-two-miles-from-home-by-taxi-dri... I wonder how they stay in business.

After reading what one of their drivers did to the disabled lady and being disabled myself in a different way there is no way I will ever use this company. They would have to go a long way to restore their so called good name if they ever had one

This cab company is in the Daily Mail today for allegedly mocking and dumping a blind woman at a random petrol station, a whole two miles from her chosen destination, and attempting to charge her £50 for a £9 journey. The passenger said the driver told her: "you should be able to point things out, you should know where you are - it is your fault you can’t see."

The least that should be done in this alleged horrible behaviour is the driver should face the licensing board & let them do the work they are paid to do. As for Mr Ellis he appears to be siding with the driver & inferring tht the blind lady was telling lies. He doesn’t deserve public support for his company mwith an attitiude like this .
