Review of Il Mirto from 1 October 2012
We turned up at peak time on a warm August Saturday night without a booking, hoping to sit outside and despite all unoccupied tables being reserved the staff were very accomodating. We had a drink outside promising to drink up and move on as soon as the reservations arrived.  Unfortunately for Il Mirto but great for us two large tables cancelled at the last minute for no apparent good reason (very inconsiderate for a small restaurant) so we were able to eat as well.  The pasta with seafood was lovely, staff charming and friendly and it is a great local.  We're trying the pizza tonight!

Went to Il Mirto to cap a wonderful Olympic day and it went badly wrong! Their attitude is so rude I am surprised they are trading. The food came 1 hour and half late and while there was an apology from the young waitress, theperson iassume was the owner/manager was extremely rude. It is amazing how such people forget that it is their clients that pay their living!!! Great potential, but spoilt by the terrie service. Avoid at all costs!!!

Disgusting attitude, Very Disappointing, ruined my friday evening placed an order for delivery, ordered a pasta dish and a calzone pizza with no mushrooms, as my husband is alergic, calzone arrived with mushrooms, and the garlic in the pasta dish was burnt (very bitter tasting),I called and complained about the pizza (overlooked the pasta and just ate it) the owner sent a replacement pizza, which arrived 20 minutes later hardly cooked infact the mozzarella was still in small diced pieces. Called back again and complained told him I was not happy that we had to finish cooking the pizza we had ordered, the owner asked me what i wante him to do and he offered us a refund, which i agreed to, 2 hours later and still no refund, and still have a bitter taste of garlc in my mouth, called back at 8.20pm, as no one turned up, was told the driver is walking out the door right now, 9pm nothing called back to be told we will return your 24 pound but are busy at the moment, the driver will be there later, stop calling here and then hung up, there attitude stinks, took the pizza back and was told your not getting a refund. ****ing awful, WILL NOT BE EATING ANYTHING FROM THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN AND SUGGEST YOU GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, WILL BE RECOMMENDING TO EVERYONE NOT TO GO HERE, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY, GO TO MCDONALDS. NEVER HAD SUCH AWFUL SERVICE.

You sound like a nightmare wife I bet your husband was desperate for the mushrooms to finally finish him of and end his misery.

you expecting them to rush round with your money in the middle of their busiest time?

    Your loss Il Mirto’s gain

I bet they all gave each other high fives when they read this and realised you were never coming back.

We are locals, and we love Il Mirto! We go there every couple of weeks for the flavoursome and authentic Sardinian dishes, and we really like the people who run it. It’s an unpretentious no-frills place with sweet 50s decor and posters of Sardinia.

Don’t forget to try the specials – usually delicious homemade pasta such as venison ragu, and the tiramisu is to die for. This is a gem of a local that is worth supporting for its great food which is reasonably priced at about £7-8 a main, with BYO wine. We usually sit outside with a great bottle of red ; )

Review of Il Mirto from 8 May 2011

We went to Il Mirto today after having passed it many times. It is always bustling and seems very popular. Starters were lovely and so was my pasta arrabiata. However, the service was not great - grumpy and a bit slow. Moreover, my partner did not have a great experience as his pizza arrived and was completely inedible - the pizza topping was liquid and mushy (with little to offer in terms of ham and salami). We complained to the lady who had served the pizza and were just told ' this is italian pizza' (having been to Italy and having eaten in many authenic Italian restaurants I would say that this pizza was an Italian pizza gone wrong and I do not believe that they usually serve their pizzas like this.) She was extremely rude and we were not offered another pizza nor a discount. I suppose that given the popularity we might have just caught them on a bad day... Hopefully anyway.

We driven past it a few times and its always been busy, so as a dutiful qype ninja we went to investigate.

As you enter it, its like walking int a cafe in italy, simple well cooked food at a good price, cooked and served by people with thick italian accents.

the food was great, I liked the simple decor, they didn't mind our baby being breast fed.

will defiantly be going back
