Aberdeen Youth Hostel

one of the windows in my room was open and could not be locked or closed so it was very cold, the other was secured with a plastic cable tie. neither had handles they were clearly missing. the showers on my floor were not well supplied with water as there were two next to each other and if someone used the other at the same time as you it reduced the shower to a drizzle. i think that the pump is not strong enough to provide water for all the facilities. these are the only complaints i have and i would still recommend it to anyone as the staff were very friendly and helpful. it was very clean and tidy. a twin room went for £25.00 per bed per night and i have been told a single goes for just over £32.00 per night. the breakfast is good and there is the option of a packed lunch. the kitchen and dining room are a good size and kept clean. i forgot to take a picture during the daylight as i was in a hurry when i left and mostly preoccupied before then to take a picture so i have uploaded a night shot from when i was testing a new camera. it is a poor picture but will do i suppose until someone posts a better picture.

Secure, comfortable and welcoming accommodation at a great price (£17 for non-members, £16 for members)within reasonable walking distance of both the train and bus stations.

Electronic card-operated locks on the dorm doors are certainly a leap forward from the last time I stayed in premises operated by the Association and a welcome one.

If only it were possible to put all the snorers in their own room ...
