Delicious, beautifully presented dishes for excellent value, and decking overlooking Regent's Canal and Mile End Park.
Be careful not to get lost finding it though...

I really like this place and often have lunch or dinner here with my family. Although it can be a little bit difficult to find, the food there is totally worth the not so short walk from the tube station. They cater for all needs, so you don't have to worry if you are a vegetarian or if you don't like a certain type of food as the menu there offers a lot of variety. I highly recommend trying the sea bass if you are into sea food. They prepare it with a special blend of herbs, which gives the meat a very unique and delicious taste.
The decoration is very stylish and modern. They have some really great art on the walls and the view from almost every table is simply breathtaking.
As for the service- all the staff are very polite and welcoming. They are always ready to help you out with your order or recommend a dish. They are neither over- nor understaffed so they work very efficiently and fast. Your food will be waiting for you just in a couple of minutes and the most important thing- it will arrive in the right order unlike at some other places, where you first receive your main dish and after that your appetizer.
I definitely recommend visiting this place, just don't forget to make a reservation first.

Had an absolutely Fantastic meal at the Olive last night, for starter I had the home cured salmon and main course I had belly pork with roast artichoke and for dessert chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream… the fondant had a perfect soft chocolate centre, I wasn’t sure about the salted ice cream… but it was awesome. My partner enjoyed her meal and thought the presentation was stunning. It’s nice to see a serious restaurant with a brilliant choice of wines in this part of London.

We had intended to have desert but based on previous experience of how long it took for courses to arrive we decided against it as we did not fancy spending the whole weekend in the restaurant. Therefore, I requested the bill post haste. When it arrived £125 for four plates of fish and potato and a £20.00 bottle of mediocre wine. The bill included at 12.5% "service charge" and not even a hint of irony. When I queried the 12.5% service charge and the fact that I had waited over an hour for one course I received the excuse that they were "run off their feet" even though the restaurant was barely half full. In the end the restaurant agreed to drop this so called "service charge" but honestly I think any restaurant who is charging that level are not playing the game as I want to tip the people who are giving me the service and not use "service charge" as an excuse for the restaurant to overcharge.
Overall i think this is a restaurant that needs to wise up big time and not treat its customers as mugs.

Very sorry to hear that you were dissapointed with your experience at The Olive. I would however like to make a few points as I believe some of your details are mis-leading. It would appear that you mis-read our wine list as prices for bottles start at £16 as is clearly shown and we make a particular point of not pressurizing when it comes to ordering more wine – our waitress was simply ensuring that whilst you waited you were not left unattended.
With regard to the food prices, we do all we can to keep our prices as reasonable as possible however the ‘bit of fish with a bit of potato’ to which you refer was actually fresh halibut and fondant potato. I believe anyone who knows the cost of fresh halibut at the moment would understand how competitive our prices actually are !
As all our food is cooked from fresh there is inevitably a wait and it is unfortunate that your order came straight after a rather large table of twelve, and i therefore concede that your table waited rather longer than is normal and for that i do apologize. As with the majority of restaurants in London, a 12.5% discretionary service charge is displayed. If the customer does not query this at the point of payment then it is assumed that they are happy. Despite having paid the bill in full, the minute you requested the service charge back we immediately returned the charge in cash, with no hesitation whatsoever, and not with some kind of struggle as your comment implies!
The evening that you came to our restaurant was the Olympic night and therefore the menu was a one off special, the choices and prices therefore substantially limited. On a normal evening there would have been much larger, varied and lower priced alternatives on offer.
Again all I can do is apologize that you did not enjoy your experience in our restaurant. As an independant family run restaurant we greatly value our customers and take all feedback seriously -

Oh I am sorry it was “fondant” potato that explains it then !!!!!! I live next to the sea and am fully aware as to the price of fresh fish and to the cost of fishing and I cannot believe that you feel I should be thankful that you are serving fresh produce, that is the least I expect. The majority of the party had salmon which is a very reasonably priced fish in any market and it seems to me you are purposefully concentrating on the more expensive fish as an excuse. I don’t know what statistics you have to support your statement that the “majority” of restaurants in London charge a 12.5% service charge it is becoming an increasing trend and not a good one. What percentage of that service charge goes to the staff?
All in all I feel your reply illustrates the lack of respect with which you view your clientele. I am not in any way a serial complainer but feel I have the right to express my point of view when I have experienced less than adequate service. -

Speak as you find but I went here with my partner a few days ago (August 18th?) and found that as usual the food was excellent and the ambience outstanding, the service was friendly and it remains one of our favourite restaurants. If it is very busy the service can sometimes be a little slow but in general it is a really good restaurant with, in my opinion, quite a humble view of itself. We will certainly eat there again and again.
The atmosphere is very nice: cosy and romantic, with those dim lights and candles on the tables.
Anyway, let's talk about the food :-) for starter I had grilled king prawns with an olive and caper dressing on a bed of rocket, which was delicious. You could tell the prawns were fresh and cooked to perfection: crunchy but not overlooked and hard. My boyfriend had Halloumi with a tomato and caper dressing which he really liked. I didn't really fancy a regular main so I went for a Vesuvio Pizza instead (ham, mozzarella, mushrooms and black olives) and again I wasn't disappointed. I'm Italian and therefore VERY fussy when it comes to pizza, but I have to say that Olive's was very good. Although they have an electric oven (which by the way is replacing the traditional wood one even in the majority of restaurants in Italy) the pizza I had tasted exactly like what I generally eat at home. It was crispy, thin, Large and perfectly cooked. Also, much cheaper than what you would generally find in central London. I definitely recommend Olive, especially if you're planning a nice, quiet dinner with your other half. I will definitely go back.

The Olive has a friendly and very comfortable atmosphere. It is the type of place you can go and enjoy views of the canal and park with a coffee and home-made cake or take your significant other for a romantic meal.
The food is top class and has service to match. Slightly off the beaten track but definitely a goer and worth a visit.
Thanks for the many lovely evenings and afternoons guys!

This is restaurant is a pearl! The food is extremely well made. They have an open kitchen so you can even talk to the lovely chef if you wish. The dishes are very well presented and they taste absolutely wonderful.
We went there last summer for my best friend's birthday. What a treat! The staff is very friendly, and the owners are there serving and making sure you are getting the very best.
DEFINITELY A MUST! There is a lovely view to the canal and Mile End Park. After lunch you can have a lovely relaxing walk on the canal and walk to Vic Park.
I can tell you: you will not be disappointed. You will definitely leave with a big smile on your face and a very happy tummy.

Looks like we visited on a night when they were having an off day.
Arrived having made a reservation to find that staff just ignored us. Having waited quite some time had to go chase a member of staff for our table - amazingly; despite booking we were simply told to go outside a find a table ourselves.
At our table for a good 10 minutes no one came. Eventually stopped the waitress and our order was taken.
Drinks fairly promptly appears, but then we had to wait 35 minutes for our starter. At this point we were told that one of our mains wasn't available (which meant that hadn't started cooking anything either). A new main was selected, but another 20 minutes wait for this to arrive (and only after I'd chased).
As we had another appointment we had to rush our main course and leave. To our amazement given all the poor service, we noticed that a minor change to a starter meant that had charged for 3 starters. I pointed this out, but they insisted that I had to pay for 3 starters. I thought this was pretty cheeky given the slow service.
Vague apologies we made for the slow service, the restaurant was not overly busy and they should have been easily been able to cope/plan on a Saturday night.
I like to support local restaurants and businesses, but won't be going back here.

A really good value restaurant selling good Mediterranean food. The location is great because the view makes it look like it is in the countryside and gives it a great feeling. The staff are friendly welcoming and attentive, the wine is good and the food is really simple but well cooked, well flavoured and well presented.
It is the sort of place where you would really have to try to spend a lot of money - you could easiy eat for under a tenner a head if you just went with one course and a glass of wine but that would spoil the fun - for very little more you can have 3 courses and go home really happy!

This place is really very charming. I went there recently on a summer evening and it has a really nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. The menu is delivious and varied, from italian bruschetta and big pizzas to Mediterranean main courses and American burgers. I've been there twice now and have really enjoyed myself both times. I'll be back again I'm sure!

Thank goodness, finally a decent reasonably priced place to eat in Bethnal Green especially now the Wild Cherry is closing I have been looking for a decent place to eat that caters for vegetarians and Olive fits the bill brilliantly they also do meat and fish so my carnivor friends can stop monaning!. Situated beside the canal it should make a good haunt for a summers evening with a pizza from their authentic (I am told) oven and salad though even indoors in the rain it is well worth a visit. Food is good quality and fresh, with a mediteranean feel - they do halloumi which I can never resist and lovely tiramisu as well as good salads. Good service, great location, lovely food at reasonable prices - what more could you want?

The place is the nice place with the nice foods. I likes the daily specials as they are the good balue for money. You will find the similar places with the high prices. I gave it the four stars because it does not have the Wi-Fi internet. Only if they had the Wi-Fi, I can have done the googles on the way.
I eats here almost every day and my favourites is the egg + cheese sandwich with the chips and the catch-up. They have got the very nice furnitures and decorations and tables have the very nice candles and flowers. Food is also Halal mate.
Anyways it is the very very nice place to eat in my opinion.
