It's Waitrose so I am happy.....have been experimenting with this as a new Saturday shop venue. Pluses - its empty, lots of staff, loads of lovely things, good deli - Minuses - tiny so poor range, stock levels hit and miss, mini butcher. There is a Tesco express next door for out of stock items but this too is tiny and hit and miss.So not a replacement for a Saturday shop - back to Holloway next week but handy for a during the week top up.

Oh lovely Waitrose. The closest M&S is a good 7 minutes walk away so I'm quite happy to have this opening up nearby.

The main thing I want to note is that it isn't actually that popular. This has the brilliant effect of lots of near death date products being significantly reduced every single day? Fancy a bit of Foie Gras for £1? Pop in at lunch or at 5pm when all the reductions start happening. There's some yummy food bargains to be had!

Review of Waitrose - Clerkenwell from 20 November 2009

Blimey, I’m reviewing a supermarket.

This sadly for me is undeniable evidence of the ageing process: despite my low slung jeans and dialect of a teenage truant, my uncontrollable pant-pissing anticipation at the opening of this Waitrose yesterday had me the most excited I have been since staggering about Hackney warehouses, immobilised by repetive beats and immoral living.

There I was grinning like a morphine-filled junkie and with a basket brimming with Ecover, freshly-squeezed juices (I am about as likely to be spotted drinking ’from concentrate’ as is the Queen ordering a Big Mac in her negligee) and an organic loaf and the store had only been open hours before I was already bitching with the staff about our dear blue and white striped friends opposite, who in my Friedmanesque opinion sell a far inferior range of goods and at far too high a price as hitherto there has been no competition.

The socialist principles of my distant past are hastily flung aside if it means I can get my hands on some Andrex Shea Butter toilet rolls and loose-leaf green tea, without paying through the nose, all thanks to some ruthless supermarket price wars.

I will next be spotted sporting a ponytail in an open-top Ferrari endeavoring to recapture my youth.

oh the joys of old age.....there have to be some perks, and extolling the virtues of Waitrose is the new Sunday morning 'high'...they should start doing chill out gigs in the deli section
