You really should visit this pub (and its sister pubs) if you love good food and great service!

The Great House at Gills Green, Hawkhurst in Kent is one of three pubs owned by Elite Pubs :the other two being The Farm House at West Malling and The Gun at Chiddingly, Horam, Heathfield in East Sussex.

In these pubs, the accent is on quality; Foods, wines and ales are of the best. For a 'light' lunch, try one of their platters (my favourite is the Charcuterie) with a glass of what takes your fancy. I struggle to finish these 'snacks'. The full menu looks wonderful but, as I cannot eat a large meal at lunchtime, I haven't yet sampled it. I am plotting a way to be in the area at a suitable time in the evening, though I live at least 1 hour away from the nearest one!

Attached to the Farm House and The Gun are Chaussy's delicatessen/farm shops - more wonderful continental food and local produce on offer here. Their Christmas Hampers are a must for gifts - or for spoiling yourself. Judi and I particularly like the Great House but, unfortunately, they have just closed their Chaussy's so we are likely to start going to The Farm House henceforth. Either way, we do not intend to miss out on this wonderful eating experience. That's why we bought their £10 priviledge card - it's well worth the money!
