This was back on 19-Sep-2012. I wish I had checked these reviews before I rented a car from Terstappen, however I did not know they are Dollar's partner in Germany, I only found out when I went to Dollar's counter in Munich and ended up renting a car from them. They are a fraud company. First off, they forced me to buy insurance because I am from the US otherwise they would not rent a car to me, so I did, it was $1,477.96 acharged on my credit card immediately and they promised to return the whole thing upon returning the car if there is no damage to the car. Well, I returned the car with no damage but I forgot to pump gas. Later I found out that they did credit me back 90% of it, they took $96.72 away for gas! What a riboff! I only drove a little, maybe only 1/4 of the gas tank! Oh well, my own fault to forget pumping the gas, so be it.
This was back on 19-Sep-2012. Then, more than 2 months later, 2 days ago on 29-Nov-2012 they charged me $1,210.84 on my credit card out of the blue! This is obviously a FRAUD. I was not in Germany on 29-Nov-2012 and I have not authorized this charge. So, I called my credit card company and canceled this fraud charge and the credit card, so that Terstappen can not fraud my credit card again.
I reported this to Dollar, their parner company, as well. I will never rent from Terstappen, nor Dollar if they continue to use Terstappen as a partner in Germany.

I am a Canadian who visited Germany as a tourist. I rented a car from Terstappen at the Frankfurt airport on 31 May 2012. I chose full insurance coverage with zero deductible. On 12 June 2012 I returned the car with a scratch on the plastic rim around the right front wheel. The inspection staff acknowledged that it is covered by the insurance and assured me not to worry. After I came back to Canada, Terstappen put a charge of 1242,73€ to my visa card. I wrote to the Terstappen Damage Department on 10 August 2012 to tell them I paid for full insurance already and that they should not charge me for the repair. I received no response and so I wrote again on 18 August 2012 and copied to the manager Hubert M. Terstappen. Still there is no reply from them at all. I am being ripped off by this company. Is there an authority in Germany where I can escalate my complain?

I'm totally shocked, even with my big experience in car rentals, I haven't ever seen such horrible company!
They try to charge me on 7000 EUR (!!!) without any notice, no answers for my emails, customer servise never helps

I just returned ( 2 days ago ) small BMW in Berlin Tegel. I deal with Anna-Lena Kunkel. I left E600 deposit.
Today she tell me , they find scrach on car and will not return my deposit.
They are simplly german thiefs.

zenzi05, 22 May 2012:i am also fighting them for an alleged scratch. i am in the process to file a criminal complaint against them for credit card fraud. exactly 1 month after i returned the car, they charged our CC $536 for repairs. WTH?!. i did receive almost all of the 600 euro back.
big mistake to rent a car from them. i thought it was with dollar rent a car and not some fraudulent company

Worst car rental and service - EVER !!! They are fraudster. Old car in bad shape with a lot of damage and then they billing you for an non-happened accident. Avoid this car rental !!!! They charged us with 460 EUR and we did nothing ... unbelievabel.
Never use this company !!!

Worst car rental experience ever.On returning the car they showed me a tiny mark on the windscreen and charged me almost $1,000 for it. It didn't mattaer that repairing this damage is less than $150 (I have a quote!). In addition, they refuse to produce any evidence that they used my money to repair the damage after all. At the bottom line, they may be using this very small unnoticeable damage to rip you off, guys. Beware and stay away from these people!

Horrible service. Left stranded for hours trying to get in contact with customer support, never return phone calls or aid. We were left to resolve the problem by ourselves.
