More power to Everyman Cinema Club who own this and the couple of others dotted around the place.
This is going to the movies as it once was- 1 screen showing maybe two different films at a couple of times a day. Sounds inconvenient? Well…is having loads of leg room, really comfy chairs, a clean cinema, really nice staff and a generally brilliant place to go see a film inconvenient? No it’s not, so if there is something on that you want to see - go see it here, you won’t regret it.
Situated not far from Belsize Park so it’s not hard to get to and there are loads of good places for food and drinks around there - so a good place to make an evening of going to the movies (just like it used to be…)
The concession stand is quite amusing - all posh ice cream and wine rather than fizzy pop and popcorn.
Films - I think as you’d expect this is not really going to show Hellboy II and Transformers…more The Lives of Others and Man on Wire.
Go on - you know you want to, go see a mildly arty film in a great cinema.
This cinema is a bit special. If you’re tired of the huge mainstream chains then I would recommend this place. There is only one screen here so choice is limited but if a film is showing to your taste, seize the opportunity. It’s in a beautiful location and very close to Belsize Park tube station. It has comfy leather chairs with plenty of leg room. It felt like being in the comfort of your own home. A nice little added gesture was the offer of free bottles of water in the Ladies. Nice touch.

Normally a delightful old-school cinema with big comfy chairs, lots of leg room and it shows the films that are actually worth seeing...except that last time I went I had some old lady sitting behind me and muttering and tutting because I was apparently moving around too much in my seat - well the film hadn't started and I was taking my coat off! Anyway, can't fault it for it's questionable patrons, so I'd recommend it.
