For several years, Madhu’s has won the Good Curry Guide’s “Best UK Restaurant” award. It is deserved. I’ve been here dozens of times, have taken all my friends and family, and have never been disappointed.
It’s a fancier place than most. Dimly lit, with tasteful wall mirrors. It has linen napkins, nice tables and plates and cutlery, and a good wine list. It’s not cheap and quick; it’s definitely upmarket Indian.
The food is exquisite. I still remember the first time we went. Even though I knew about the awards, nothing could have prepared me for the insanely delicious food I ate. My party all agreed it was the best Indian we’d ever had in the UK. Dahl, lamb, nann, pilau, fish…oh god, we all ate so much. They have a lamb starter that we never fail to get.
I have to highlight the service here, too. I feel it’s some of the best I’ve gotten in London. Very professional, but just friendly enough not to be uncomfortable and stiff.
They’ve got a big wine list; I tend to prefer beer with my Indian food, though.
They tend to put larger, noisier groups upstairs, keeping it more romantic downstairs.
Southall is full of amazing curry houses, but Madhu’s deserves all the accolades it gets.

We ate here on our last evening in London or I would have been back again for sure. Without reservation, this is the best Indian food I have ever had anywhere (UK, USA, Europe). Having never been to Asia I can’t say for certain if it’s the best Indian food period, but I’ve never had anything close to this delicious.
Our host the evening we had dinner here is a family friend I’ve known for over 30 years, born and raised outside London but a world traveler. This was Tony’s pick for the best Indian in and around London, and he knows his food. Every dish we had from the lamb and chicken to the vegetarian dishes was superb; the curries were complex, warm, and delicious without being overly spicy.
Also, if you’ve never been to this part of town, it’s a real treat. I wish we had come earlier in the day to do some shopping, although I am not sure how much I could have smuggled back home in my suitcase (these days, not much gets through).
This is a definite “must” on my list of places to return to when I come to visit friends and family. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

In my opinion, this is the best Indian restaurant in Southall although a little pricey if you fancy loads of dishes. Go here with your partner if you fancy a special night out, or if you have a family celebration, or a business meal. There is some parking outside the front of the restaurant. It can get busy so book a table if coming especially, or from a distance, to avoid disappointment. The food is delicious; especially the starters and the breads, and the staff are extremely helpful and very smartly dressed.
