I LOVE LONDON ZOO!

I spent the day here on Saturday for my best mates birthday and we had the best day. We also got our faces painting like lions and tigers which made it event more fun. (Until we went to the pub after and felt a bit silly.)

There’s a lot to do here - you won’t run out of stuff to look at! My favourite were the giraffes (they always are) and they didn’t disappoint - just doing their normal giraffe stuff was cool enough for me. The Meerkats were really cool too. Make sure you go and see the butterflies and the bats too! Just go! Go and see it all!

The new gorilla enclosure is cool and they were amazing. There was something to look at everywhere you went. Even the otters had us in stitches just by being cute and I’ve seen those in the wild!

The nicest thing is that you can tell the animals are well looked after. The guys who work here enjoy what they do and this shows. There’s a great animal show in the ampitheatre.

As Andrew said it’s £17 for an adult ticket - there is a gift aid supplement included in that which you don’t have to pay if you don’t want to. Or, you could have a hunt around for 2-4-1 bargains like we did and share the cost with a mate.

Then you’ll have more money for silly cuddly toy meerkats and facepainting.

Brilliant day out. We got there about 1 and we missed some bits out - we didn’t see any lions or tigers unfortunately. I’d suggest getting there for 12 and you should fit everything in.

I have lived in London for quite some time now, but Saturday was my first visit to London Zoo. The Zoo is located on the northern edge of Regent’s Park and is pretty easy to get to on public transport (Mornington Crescent and Camden Town are probably the closest tube stations).

The zoo is very well maintained and the staff are extremely knowledgable. I’d recommend visiting 3 areas - Gorilla Kingdom, Bird of Prey show and the feeding of the penguins! All lots of fun.

The London Zoo doesn’t touch some of the big Zoo’s in the US like San Diego, but it’s still a fun day out. £17 for Adults and special discounts for kids and families.

London Zoo is one of them proper family day outs and probably one of the most popular. There is so much to see. The animals are well kept, and there are so many of them. I love going there even at my age. There are souvieners, and loads of activities that you can take home with you and talk about. I HIGHLY suggest this place for families. It also helps young toddlers with animals which is excellent.

I loved it as a kid. I really did. If you have kids and the money go here. i remember going with my nan and having a wicked day. It is expensive so take that trusty picnic with you and if its hot plenty to drink for the kiddies because you will get stung.

Horrible experience. I really only recommend this place to people with small children, as they are always happy to see animals and they may not have other opportunities. Otherwise, this place is one to avoid!

London Zoo is a fun day out for the kids, not a cheap one, but who can resist animal watching!

It’s got lots of lovely green lawn to take a picnic, and you can do the Zoo at your own pace, which is nice. Take in the butterflies, the reptiles, aquarium, big cats, giraffes. I’ve also noticed that London has a few different animals that I haven’t seen before - reindeer, bearded pigs, funny half zebra animals!

If you haven’t done the Zoo before, it is a must, but if you have, it’s just as good to take the kids to the park.

Most of us visit London Zoo not to face our fears but to wander around and enjoy the fascination of the animals there. However, one of the services London Zoo offers is to change people’s lives forever who have a spider phobia! Affectionately termed as “The Friendly Spider Programme”, this afternoon, yes, you read that right, in just one afternoon, your whole outlook towards spiders will change from “uurrgh, get that thing away from me” to “actually, spiders are pretty amazing creatures” and “I’m no longer afraid”. Sounds like I’m exagerrating…not so. The afternoon starts with a frank an informative talk about spiders to de-mystify them and make you understand that they really aren’t as scary as you believe. This is followed by a group hypnotherapy session which was very relaxing and reinforces our positivity about spiders and then it’s a trip to the invertebrate house to put into practice the changed attitude. If someone told me at the beginning of the afternoon I would be learning how to catch house spiders safely without harming them or myself! I would have laughed at them but sure enough that’s what people were doing. Even posing with a bird eating spider and smiling for the camera, me, not the spider. Spider phobias can restrict your life so much, after this session, I felt liberated. The price is £110 with concessions and they run on a Saturday, roughly every month during the summer. Details can be found on www.zsl.org and do a search for “Friendly Spider Programme”. Go on, you won’t regret it.

In principal I am against zoos as they coup up poor animals in cages that are as representative of their natural environment as Kate Moss is of the average UK woman. There is an argument that zoos are here to educate and help to keep endangered animals from extinction and this is the path that I choose to take when I visit London Zoo. Set in the magnificent Regents Park with the canal running alongside it London Zoo has a pretty perfect location. The recently opened Gorillia kingdom is done in a more sensitive way and you are able to get really close to these great apes. ZSL who manage and run the zoo are involved in a number of conservation projects at home and abroad and you feel that they do have the animals best interests at heart moving away from the traditional cages to more modern enclosures. The zoo is great for children and schools and offer special outreach sessions for kids to get closer to the animals. Visiting London Zoo brings out the big kid in you and is a great place to visit if only to educate yourself further about the animals on show and their plight in the wild. Refreshments and facilities are nothing to shout about but do their job
